Before Fusion, high school for Melia felt isolating. At her previous school, Melia didn’t feel welcome and was forced into an impossible choice: give up her academic support or her diploma.

Fusion offered a third option: hope.

“Being welcomed and appreciated by my teachers at Fusion made a huge difference.”

Melia’s most proud moment? Graduation. She shares, “Being among friends, family, and mentors made me so grateful. My teacher Robyn Buller spoke about me in a way no other teacher ever had.”

She credits Robyn for turning English 12 into a space that felt more like a book club than a class — and Head of School Gretchen Williams for putting on a beautiful, empowering ceremony that marked not just the end of high school, but a brand new beginning.

Now, Melia is heading to UC Riverside in Fall 2025 to study psychology, with plans to become a school psychologist so she can help other students feel safe, supported, and seen.

In fall 2023, Zahra suffered four traumatic brain injuries in just three months from fainting episodes. Suddenly, even reading a paragraph triggered pain. Traditional school became impossible.

But then Zahra found Fusion.

With the help of her incredible teachers and mentors — like Erin Ennis and Limitless Scholarship mentor Kimberly Floyd — Zahra didn’t just recover academically. She flourished.

📚 She became Student Body President
🏅 Founded and leads her campus National Honor Society chapter
🏆 And recently earned 1st place in our Limitless Innovation Scholarship competition!

“Today, I feel empowered, resilient, and more in control of my future than ever before... I went from not being able to read a paragraph without getting a headache, to finishing two novels within a semester.”

Her future? It’s just getting started. Zahra plans to become a pediatrician, driven by a passion to help children feel safe, heard, and cared for.

“I loved how Fusion immediately embraced my intellect and welcomed me with open arms.” - Viraj, student at Fusion Newton after opening his MIT acceptance letter 🥳

Once labeled as intellectually disabled, Viraj was underestimated for most of his life. But thanks to his own determination, a breakthrough with assistive tech, and a personalized education at Fusion, he’s proven what’s possible when brilliance is finally seen.

Viraj scored a near-perfect 35 on the ACT. His favorite subject? Calculus. His next stop? MIT💪

“There is hope,” he says, “despite what the experts may have told you.” Viraj, we are so proud of you and honored to be part of your educational journey!

Meet Erika and Bryson, this year’s Fusion Alpharetta Prom Queen and King!👑 Their crowning moment wasn’t just about the crowns... it was a celebration of community.

If you think a personalized school experience means missing out on social life, Erika and Bryson would like a word:

“It could not be further from the truth,” says Erika. “At Fusion, I get to build so many more close relationships with not only my fellow students, but also my teachers because of how small it is. I have seen some of my friends who didn’t come to Fusion very social, flourish in this environment and become a whole new person when they graduate. So I can promise you, it’s never felt lonely at Fusion.”

Bryson agrees: “Outside of one-to-one classes, we have the freedom to spend time with friends in the Homework Café, through clubs, or at events like prom.”

As student ambassadors, both Bryson and Erika exemplify Fusion’s Schoolwide Learner Outcomes: they’re resourceful, self-aware, inclusive, and critical thinkers.

From welcoming new students to leading by example both socially and academically, these two show what it means to thrive at Fusion.

“Student life here is different in the best way,” Erika shares. “At my old school, I always felt kind of isolated because of how many kids there were. Here, you never really feel alone.”

What’s next? Erika is heading to New York City to study at the Institute for American Musical Theatre (IAMT) 🎭, where she’ll train with Broadway professionals. Bryson plans to grow his AI consulting business while pursuing college.
