www.kellyvaughnmusicstudio.com My main goal as a teacher is to help each student achieve their individual goals.

Motivating the student and illustrating the proper techniques are what I consider to be my primary responsibilities. I try to teach my students all the things that nobody ever showed me. My teaching philosophy is derived from a blend of two distinctly different schools of thought. On the one hand there is the by-the-book music theory type approach. This approach consists of reading music and under

😂 Be that guy!

Whether it's around a campfire, on a road trip, or halfway up a mountain trail, every group needs a guitarist.

Sure, we might bring a guitar where it doesn't belong...
But when everyone starts singing along, suddenly it makes perfect sense.

Music has a way of turning ordinary moments into memories.

Be that guy. 🎸

😂 Every. Single. Week.

Singer: "Let's do it in G."

Keyboard player: "You mean concert G or minus 3?"

Guitar player: "Capo 3?"

Bass player: "Wait... what key are we actually in?"

One of the most valuable skills a musician can learn is how to communicate keys and transpositions clearly between instruments. It can save rehearsals, gigs, and a whole lot of confused looks across the stage.

If you've ever been in this situation, you're officially part of the club. 😆

What instrument do you play, and how do YOU prefer to communicate keys?

Barre chords frustrate almost every guitarist at first.
But most of the time… it’s not a strength problem.

It’s mechanics.

Your thumb position, wrist angle, guitar setup, string gauge, and action can make a HUGE difference in how difficult barre chords feel.

Small adjustments = big breakthroughs. 🎸

That’s why at KVMS we focus on understanding the why behind the technique — not just forcing it with brute strength.

Some people were born to blend in.

Others were born to shine. 🎶♥️

At Kelly Vaughn Music Studio, we believe music gives people the confidence to step out, be creative, and find where they belong.

“If you don’t fit in the crowd… you probably belong on stage.”

Today, Kelly Vaughn Music Studio pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

KVMS is closed today in honor of our fallen heroes.

May we never forget the cost of freedom. 🇺🇸

Every guitar player knows this feeling. 🎸

At first it’s exciting.
Then comes the frustration.
Then the doubt.

But the students who keep showing up… keep practicing… and keep trying…

are the ones who suddenly realize:

“Wait… I CAN do this.”

That moment is one of the best parts of teaching music. 💜

At KVMS we’re not just teaching songs.
We’re building confidence, discipline, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.

WHY IS SLOW PRACTICE SO IMPORTANT? 🎸🎹🥁

Most musicians love playing fast…
But real growth usually happens when you slow things down.

⚡ Fast playing can sometimes hide mistakes.
🐢 Slow practice forces your brain and hands to work together with precision.

At slower speeds:
• You notice timing issues
• You clean up technique
• You strengthen muscle memory correctly
• You build confidence and consistency

That’s why the best players in the world still practice slowly.

Slow practice may *feel* harder… because your brain is actually learning. 🔥

What’s something you are currently practicing slowly right now?
