www.kellyvaughnmusicstudio.com My main goal as a teacher is to help each student achieve their individual goals.

Motivating the student and illustrating the proper techniques are what I consider to be my primary responsibilities. I try to teach my students all the things that nobody ever showed me. My teaching philosophy is derived from a blend of two distinctly different schools of thought. On the one hand there is the by-the-book music theory type approach. This approach consists of reading music and understanding the theories behind composition, chord construction, harmonization, etc. The other approach is more free-wheeling style where playing by ear and actual playing experience provides most of the basis for teaching. I use both perspectives to teach because I believe there are benefits to both styles. I teach everyone differently. Why? Well, each student responds to different teaching methods and there are so many different areas of interest. In addtion to guitar I also teach piano, bass, mandolin, ukulele, recording techniques and songwriting. A few specific areas of focus:

Playing songs from your favorite artists. Learning to sing and play at the same time
Playing at Church. Becoming a Worship Leader. Writing songs. Becoming a lead guitar player. I do my best to keep each student excited about learning music. By making it fun and imparting a little musical knowledge along the way, I hope to lay a good foundation for the years to come. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Retired, self-employed and home schoolers are all welcome here!

🎸🧪 The Mad Professor is back with another music theory question!

We've all heard of the Circle of Fifths. But shouldn't we also call it the Circle of Fourths? 🤔

Move clockwise and you're traveling in perfect fifths. Move counterclockwise and you're traveling in perfect fourths.

Same circle. Same 12 notes. Two different perspectives!

So here's the question: Should we call it the Circle of Fifths, the Circle of Fourths, or BOTH?

Let's hear from the music theory experts! 🎶

Every great musician started with small steps. 🎸

One chord. One scale. One riff. One practice session at a time.

Progress doesn't always happen as quickly as we'd like, but consistency pays off!

At Kelly Vaughn Music Studio, we believe that small improvements lead to big accomplishments.

Keep practicing. Keep learning. Keep moving forward. The results will come! 🎶

ROCK – Crank it.

FUNK – Find the groove.

COUNTRY – Tell a story.

Four completely different styles, all coming from the same six strings!

At Kelly Vaughn Music Studio, we believe a well-rounded guitarist should explore different styles. You never know what might inspire your next breakthrough!

Which style gets the most playing time on YOUR guitar?

What's the name of this chord?

No cheating! And bonus points if you can tell us which notes make it up!

Santa knew EXACTLY what he was doing! Nothing says Merry Christmas quite like giving someone else's kid a drum!
