Last week, I had the opportunity to tour The Shelton School. What an amazing facility! Big things are happening at Shelton and they are growing leaps and bounds. They do require a full psychoeducational evaluation for admission. I am touring a few old and new spots in the area to help the families I work with find the best educational environment for their child whether it be public or private school. Tis the season for lots of testing! Here are some tips! I am filling my Winter break calendar so let me know if you need updated evaluations or a new evaluation over the break! Study hard!
Many students with learning challenges struggle to demonstrate their knowledge on standardized tests, especially high-stakes assessments where a lot is riding on the outcome (e.g., college acceptance, scholarship award, private school placement, AP placement, etc.). Certainly, content mastery is a factor in student performance, but psychological considerations play a key role as well.

I’m booking Summer dates for evaluations. Summer is a great time for an update or to see where your child stands after two years of Covid. There have been ups and downs in education due to online school and inconsistent attendance.

Is it time for your re-evaluation? Usually it is every three years but, if you are making a school change or getting ready to go off to college an update may be need to make decisions about accommodations.
🧐 How often should an evaluation for LD be done? Typically, students are required to have a full re-evaluation every three years to continue receiving special education services from their school district.
