Texas Homeschool Music is excited to have renowned marching band director Brian Youngblood lead a marching clinic with our students on March 7th. If your student is interested in joining Texas Homeschool Music Marching Band or Junior Marching Band for the 26/27 year, we would love for you to join us! This is a FREE event for TxHM studens and future TxHM students! Lunch is included.
If your student plans to join us, you must RSVP by emailing TxHM at [email protected]. Include your name, student name, age, experience, and shirt size in the email.
This is a great time to be a part of Texas Homeschool Music! Come join us!

Fulfilling a Need
Homeschooling is very rewarding in so many ways. Whether you started out with the intent to keep your children home and teach them yourself or if it arose from necessity, it is rewarding. There are so many things offered throughout the homeschool community, and it gets better every year. Whether it be academic, art, drama, culinary, choir, band, you name it, you can find a place to help your child grow in their gifts. You can even find sports groups that are centered around the homeschool community. However, our president, Michele Stillwell, saw a gaping hole that needed to be filled. Marching Band. How many homeschool children do you know that are a member of a marching band? And even if one existed, who would they march for? Well, Michele got to work, met up with the right people, and created the North Texas Homeschool Marching Band. Who do we march for? Who better than homeschool sports teams! So, in 2017 our little band was formed. With Michele leading, a great board of directors, and a fantastic band leader, Jill Schatz ,agreeing to work with the kids and teach them the skills they need, classes were offered to the community. We began with twelve students. Most had never played before, or at least never played the instrument they would be marching with. In one short year, their talents grew tremendously. In the fall of 2017, they played their first marching season. In the winter and spring, when marching season was over, we learned concert music, performing those pieces for a Christmas concert and a spring concert the following May. Now, one year after it’s inception, we have grown to twenty students. Mrs. Schatz is working diligently with each and every student to get them to play to their full potential and encouraging them every step of the way. She’s exactly what our band needed. Our goal is to grow more and more each year and to provide homeschool students with the opportunity to not only play an instrument and learn the art of music, but to also be able to be in a marching band, marching on the field during half time and playing for the team.
