At Kathak Rhythms, Kathak is taught as a complete form with traditional methods, combining the best of all Gharanas. While deliberately staying away from the deviations of "Bolly-culture", Kathak Rhythms gives the opportunity to serious dance lovers to focus on the purity of the dance form. Join us on Sunday, November 16, 2025 for the 4th annual Diasporic and Indigenous Dance Conference! Free and open to the public, this conference brings together local and visiting artists specializing in cultural dance to teach, perform, and discuss the roles of cultural dance in community-building and the challenges to and importance of Indigenous/Diasporic Arts at TCU and across the nation. Two open Master Classes in Cultural Dance, a Showcase of Cultural Dance, a student performance by the students of DANC 10331, and a curated Q&A with the artists!

It all starts at 1pm on Sunday, November 16, in the Erma Lowe Studio Theater (3rd Floor) on the TCU campus.
This program is generously sponsored by the School for Classical and Contemporary Dance, Program in Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, Program in Women and Gender Studies, the Community Connection Fund and a College of Fine Arts Community Programs grant.

Happy to have met and spent time with Gladys Keeton at ! It was wonderful to learn about the rich history of dance at Texas Woman’s University and its long-standing legacy. I was delighted to share some foundations of Kathak—its movement vocabulary and historical context—with students in DNCE 2143: Dance and Globalization, a course that explores world dance forms and their social, cultural, and political significance.

After winning rave reviews in India with its stylized Odissi rendition, El Dorado - The Golden One ✨ makes it’s USA Premiere as a Broadway-style musical in the timeless grace of Kathak.

This 90-minute dance-ballet tells the story of Mukta, a young girl in search of happiness, brought to life through breathtaking music fusions, exquisite choreography, evocative poetry, original art, and stunning stage theatrics.

✨ Mesmerizing Kathak meets Broadway flair in *El Dorado* ✨

This 90-minute dance-ballet tells the story of Mukta, a beautiful young woman who sets out on a breathtaking journey in search of happiness, guided by her mother’s final words. Her voyage, filled with joys and trials, comes alive through Hindustani music fusions, intricate classical solos & group choreographies, original paintings, evocative poetry, and dramatic lighting design.

A true confluence of art forms, *El Dorado* is written, directed, and musically composed by **Anita Kulkarni** (Founder-Artistic Director, Renu Forum for the Arts ) and choreographed by Guru Akhila Rao (Director, Kathak Rhythms, Dallas) in Kathak for female lead and senior dancers of . Adding depth to the production, the **male lead will present in Bharatanatyam**, creating a striking cross-classical dialogue on stage.

Premiered in India in 2022 in Stylized Odissi, *El Dorado* has since enthralled audiences at prestigious venues, receiving rave reviews from media, critics, and connoisseurs alike. We are now delighted to bring its **North American premiere** to Texas!
