Congratulations to Elvis, our first student in Kenya to GRADUATE UNIVERSITY!

We met this young man when he was in elementary school. Now, we are celebrating as he becomes an independent Christian leader in his community. Our Kenyan team recently gathered to celebrate this huge milestone with this young man.

Elvis was the very first child sponsored through Orphan Outreach in Kenya. His mother enrolled him at Patmos School in Mathare Slum, and a good education, nutritious meals, counseling, and the hope of the Gospel helped him thrive. His sponsors continued to support him as he was accepted to the University of Nairobi, where he studied commerce and finance. Elvis interned with Orphan Outreach Kenya in the Finance Department and is ready now to give back to his community and country.

“I am the first person to attend university in my family. Sponsorship has given me the wings to fly…Orphan Outreach wants to help more children be leaders in their community and in our nation.” -Elvis

More students in our education programs around the world want to be like Elvis.

He came while the world was sleeping. And He came to those who were keeping watch in the darkness, expectant of the light.

The angels came first to shepherds—common folk, not considered worthy of big news. They came first to shepherds who were fighting sleep to protect their flocks from predators that delighted in the darkness. The shepherds were waiting for light’s arrival. The angels came to the lowly ones who knew each sheep by the curl of its wool or the markings on its face or the sound of its bleat. The angels came first to the shepherds to announce the birth of a liberator, a savior, a king. The greatest event of all time was first announced in the smallest of ways to those who were simply awake, believing light would most certainly come.

He didn’t come to a king.
He didn’t come to a government leader.
He didn’t come to a church.
He didn’t come to a crowd.

The angels say He came for everyone. All people. The whole world. And they said that was exceptionally good news!

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior this week, we at Orphan Outreach thank you for supporting vulnerable families in India and around the world—and to share with you a mother’s story of answered prayer.

Chingthaniangi and her husband Sangliana, both HIV+, work as day laborers with no formal education. Years ago, they fled violence in Manipur, India, seeking peace in Mizoram.

When their son James was born, they prayed to find someone who might offer guidance and help as they raised a child who, like them, was HIV+. They longed to provide a better future for James—a future that would allow him to become successful, a future that wouldn’t be marred by the stigma of HIV.

Their prayers were answered through the Gan Sabra Community Program, where they found food, medicine, and support. Now 18, James is thriving, competing in state and national karate championships, and dreaming of starting his own school.

“Because of Gan Sabra,” says Chingthaniangi, “James has a place to belong and a bright future.”

In Aizawl, more families are still waiting to join the Gan Sabra Community Program. Your year-end gift could help more families receive life-saving care, and every dollar you give is doubled (up to $400,000)!

In India:
$27 provides medical care for one person
$161 provides a month of food for one family
$172 provides a month of formula to reduce HIV transmission from mothers to babies

Your tax-deductible gift must be postmarked by December 31st.

Rosylin, Celione, and Cruzon live in Mathare Slum, one of the largest and poorest areas in Kenya.

Until last year, Rosylin was a single mother struggling to provide for her daughters. She faced shame from the community for her lack of education and inability to adequately care for Celion and Cruzon.

The one source of hope for Rosylin was the support her younger daughter, Cruzon, received at Patmos School. The school not only provided a quality education and nutritious meals but also extended social support to the family, offering prayer, counseling, and essential supplies.

Then, Patmos School launched a SILC program (Savings and Internal Lending Community). Rosylin eagerly joined, contributing 100 Kenyan Shillings ($1 USD) weekly. Through the program, she secured small loans to start a porridge-selling business, which now supports her family.

When families are strengthened, communities are strengthened.

Today, you can join us in providing essentials to children and families at Patmos School—and around the world.

$74 sustains the Family Support Fund at Patmos School- providing emergency assistance to families like Rosylin with groceries or critically-needed household items in the midst of hardship or crisis
$115 provides nutritious meals to children like Cruzon at Patmos for a full school year
$300 helps purchase much-needed textbooks for Patmos School students

And right now, your gift goes twice as far!

Until December 31st, every dollar you give is matched, doubling the impact (up to $400,000). Let's provide tangible hope today!
