This was an amazing weekend for me. I had the pleasure to meet up my instructor, Burt Vickers, and the rest of my kaju brothers in KSDS. As well as make new lifelong friendships. If that was not enough. I was promoted this weekend to 6th degree. It is still sinking in. If you had told me when I started that I would one day reach this milestone, I would not have believed it. Thank you to my mentor, Burt Vickers for all his support, and my students for honoring me and giving me the opportunity to even be a teacher.
I am forever grateful.

Attended an event in Curch Point, Louisiana this weekend put together by Cody Begnaud. What an awesome event it was and I was grateful I was able to participate. Each presenter shared a glimpse into their system or art. I have left this event with some new knowledge that I will genuinely bring back with me and apply. This is what this type of event is meant to do.
Along the way I made new friends with my brothers in the larger family of Kajukembo, and others outside of my family tree.

This is Paul Enes, one of my Black Belts, instructing some of the kids. It is awesome to see the art I love being passed on.

We met as a group this morning at our favorite breakfast spot in Plano; Red Truck Diner. It served twofold, one to catchup as a group and the other to celebrate our first Junior Black Belt.
We were blessed this morning by 3 former students who all recommitted to restarting their training in September. We are excited to have them back and look forward to their continued journey.

Yesterday my students and I had the privilege of being hosted by our friends at Tapper's Kenpo Karate. The event was to allow us to share our respective arts and learn from each other. We were also visited by Danny Nguyen and our friends at Golden Tiger TKD. Steve Tapper is an amazing and knowledgeable martial artist. My students appreciate the friendship and hospitality extended by him and his students. It was a great session in which we focused on blending jujitsu with striking and on offensive techniques. I came away from the session humbled and more informed. I look forward to our next event.

This morning we held belt testing for 3 of our adult students. I was happy to see good intensity and focus during the exam. It is great to see their progress and I encourage them to continue to learn and grow. Congratulations to Kota, Jerith, and Cody on earning your new rank.
