STUCO needs parent volunteers for the Duck Fundraiser during A, B, and C lunches!

As a volunteer, you will supervise, making sure the cashier is collecting and counting the correct amount, and students are completing the Google order form and a card. At the start of each shift, pick up the cash box from the front office. Whoever volunteers during C lunch makes sure items are packed up and brought to Mrs. Cross, including the cash box.

Join us for our General PTA Meeting, Thursday, January 25 8:30am at school. We will be electing Nominating Committee and voting budget amendments, and we would appreciate your attendance to help with our quorum. Looking forward to see you there!

It is once again time to elect a nominating committee to recommend a slate of officers for the SMS PTA for the 24-25 school year. Per our bylaws, the nominating committee is comprised of 5 individuals and 2 alternates. The president and anyone who served on the committee last year is ineligible to serve. The committee will be elected at our general meeting on 1/25. Please consider volunteering to develop a slate of recommended officers that will further our mission to support our students, staff and parents. You will receive directions and guidance and the process generally just takes 2 or 3 hours and a couple of meetings to finalize. Questions can be directed to Terri Childress, Parliamentarian, at [email protected]. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Friendly reminder: Monday, January 15 is a school holiday, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Tuesday January 9 is the start of our second semester. We will see you back at school soon, Panthers!

Happy New Year!!! We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Panther families for your tremendous support to our school this past year! May the year of 2024 bring you new blessings, new goals, new achievements and success.

To our Panther families who celebrate, Merry Christmas! Wishing you joy and peace this holiday season.

Our Panther students did AMAZING job making blankets today for the Children’s Hospital! Thank you so much to all who donated fleece for this community service project! This wouldn’t have been possible without your help and support. PTA will be dropping these off this afternoon.

**REMINDER** Students, please leave your backpacks at home tomorrow (Thursday 12/21) for the last day of school before winter break! It will be an early release day, and all students will be dismissed at 12:40pm.

Also, if your student pre-ordered a meal for Lunchapalooza, they will receive a ticket in the morning during 3rd period. Students will be instructed to hold on to this ticket and present it in exchange for their meal when their grade level is called. After all students have their meals, we will sell the left-over pizza slices, chips, and drinks along with a variety of CANDY for $2 each. Students should bring extra money for these items. We are excited to celebrate the end of the semester with your student!

TODAY is the last day to buy Lunchapalooza tickets! Tickets are sold during lunch time, this week only. Lunchapalooza is a special block lunch during which students have the opportunity to eat and enjoy time with their grade level peers. It will happen on Thursday, December 21st.

For the purchase of a meal ticket, students will receive 2 slices of cheese pizza, a bag of chips, and a soda or water for only $7. These tickets can be purchased with cash only in the cafeteria during all lunches this week only. Students can even buy multiple meals if they want more pizza!

The deadline for meal purchases is FRIDAY, December 15th (TODAY) and students will NOT be able to purchase meals after this date. Lunch lines in the cafeteria will still be open, and students are still welcome to bring their own lunch if they prefer either of these options.

Thanks to all of you who support our PTA financially through your membership dollar and fundraising efforts during the year, we were able to provide a delicious Holiday Luncheon for all Schim teachers and staff. Everyone was treated to brisket and chicken from Dickey’s BBQ who kindly opened earlier just for us. We also wanted to thank SMS PTA board members and volunteers who generously provided the sides and desserts. 🥗🍪🥧🥙🍗

The Panther family will participate in a campus-wide community service project on the last day of the semester. We have partnered with Children's Hospital to provide one of their greatest needs: blankets for their patients.

December 21st will be a half day for our students, and that morning, our students and staff will make no-sew blankets to donate to this worthy cause.

Our goal as a campus is to make 300 blankets but to make this happen, we will need fleece...LOTS of fleece, 1200 yards to be exact, as it requires 4 yards of fleece to make one blanket. We have already had a very generous corporate donation to get us started, but much more will be needed. Only blizzard and anti-pill fleece can be used, and if possible, please donate in increments of two yards. We would love to show our Schim spirit by using our school colors in solids, plaids, and prints, but we are happy to accept any other colors donated.

Please click on the link to sign up for donations and to get more details about how we all can positively impact our community this holiday season. Thank you in advance for your generosity! #!/showSignUp/60B0C49ABA72BA7FA7-46589442-fleece
