4 Things you should do with your child everyday

1. Encourage strategic thinking through your child strategizing solutions to their own problems.

2.Ask more questions than provide answers.

3.Apologize when you fall short in parenting. Ask them for a re-do and start over.

4.Show appreciation for your child's effort over the outcome.

We are in this together, and you are not alone. We can choose to slow down and be in the moment WITH our children. You are on their team.

Congratulations to our 2024 graduating class.

I strategize. I persevere. I see with different eyes.

Today we had to overcome intentional frustration. As they carefully worked together to put together their Legos and began to feel a huge sense of accomplishment....in comes Ms. Chastity! I took their finished or near finished work and completely deconstructed it.👀👀👀
Why on Earth would someone do that to a child? Because in real life there will be times when we think we've done enough to celebrate and it all falls apart. How we handle it is a matter of how we've practiced perseverance, strategizing and seeing with different eyes (over and over and over again). Finished is a mirage in life. We teach our students to see situations for what they can be, not what they feel like they are.

Our students will be well versed in handling hard situations and they will leave knowing NOTHING can stop them, but themselves.

Everyone left with a finished product AND the confidence to know they can indeed, persevere.

It's officially the last couple weeks of the school year here at Arete. We know that there are many homeschooling families looking for a supplemental experience, or even an opportunity for their child to get another form of teaching and learning. Others are looking for their child to experience guidance and relationship from another authority figure. If you are one of those families, please reach out! We would love to host your child, and allow them to experience a day with Arete students before the school year is complete.

At our Micro-School when students are asked, what do you like about coming to Arete a common theme is we are unique. What we do is not like regular school. We get to do things differently, weird and our own way.

They couldn't be more right. we love collaboration, different opinions and learning from one another. We value independence and individuality especially in collaboration!

Our students get to be connected directly to people doing the things they aspire to do.

We are fully into spring now! Do you have a garden? or a potted plant? Our students have all grown tremendously since Fall of 2023, and we couldn't be more proud!

Our performance was comprised of choreography and singing all organized by our one and only Ms. Amayeh!

What a fun time it was to see our student's sing and dance their hearts out. They got to show their friends and family their day in and day out effort.

What life lessons have you learned from playing a board game? When's the last time you played a board game?

Arete's creed is not a simple lecture that one can hear about and then suddenly be about. When we do something about it, that's when lessons are learned. Our games that we incorporate into our school routine and rhythms don't lecture our students but rather give each student their own personalized lesson. The games we play, teach multiple areas of standards and curriculum and are an intentional piece of our students learning.
