🥋 An Incredible Honor & A Legacy Worth Protecting 🥋

It is with tremendous honor and gratitude that I share that I was bestowed the Professor Nick Cerio Legacy Award, while my student, dear friend, and longtime training partner, Shihan Nathan Lovejoy, was bestowed the Senior Grandmaster George Pesare Legacy Award.

To be the first recipients of these awards is something that words simply cannot express.

Throughout my years in the martial arts, one of my greatest goals has been to preserve and pass on Professor Cerio’s knowledge—to teach it to my instructors so they can carry it forward and pass it on to their students for generations to come.

To receive this recognition from the Masters means more than an award. It is reassurance that the work we have been doing, the traditions we have protected, and the responsibility we have taken in representing the Cerio name and patch are being carried forward with the respect they deserve.

I am also incredibly proud of Shihan Nathan Lovejoy. Nathan has followed alongside me in the martial arts as a student, friend, and training partner, while also dedicating himself to serving our country through three active-duty tours. His dedication, loyalty, discipline, and commitment make this recognition incredibly well deserved.

Professor Cerio’s legacy is not something we simply remember.

It is something we continue. We teach it. We protect it. And we pass it on. 🥋

I am humbled, grateful, and incredibly honored.

The legacy continues. ❤️🥋

❤️🥋 MEET SENSEI CAT!

If you have one of our younger students, there’s a good chance you already know Sensei Cat!

Cat basically grew up at NCK. She started karate when she was only 3 years old and has spent most of her life around the dojo.

Today, she’s one of our instructors and has a special way of working with our youngest students.

She’s patient, kind and knows how to make karate FUN while still teaching kids to listen, work hard and believe in themselves.

Her favorite of our 5 Principles of Conduct is CHARACTER — because she believes people need to learn to be themselves. ❤️

We’re pretty lucky to have her as part of our NCK teaching team!

Parents & students — give Sensei Cat some love below! 👇❤️

🥋🏆 BIG SHOUTOUT TO YOUR NCK INSTRUCTORS! 🏆🥋

Our instructors jumped back on the mats and competed at the IKCG Tournament — and WOW, did they represent NCK! 👊

Not only did they go out there and perform their best… THEY WON! And they didn’t stop at 1st place — they took GRAND CHAMPION in their overall divisions! 🤯🏆

🥇 Sensei Sean — Grand Champion, Male Black Belt Weapons
🥇 Sensei Cat — Grand Champion, Female Black Belt Weapons
🥇 Shodan Candace — Grand Champion, Women’s Black Belt Fighting

And let us tell you — there was some TOP-TIER competition at this tournament!

We’re incredibly proud. These three aren’t just amazing instructors who teach, encourage, and push our students every week — they can step onto the competition floor and get it done, too. 💪🥋

These are YOUR NCK instructors! 👍🏽😉🤯

They don’t just teach it. They live it.

And stay tuned… because we have MORE great tournament news to come! 👀🏆🥋

🥋 Just a normal Monday night at NCK. ❤️

Working hard. Learning. Laughing. Helping each other. And getting a little better every class.

Sometimes the best moments at the dojo aren’t the big belt promotions or tournaments.

They’re nights just like this.

We love our NCK family!

🥋 Meet Kyoshi Joe

If you’ve been around NCK for a while, you already know him. But we have some new people following our page, so we thought it was time to introduce the people behind NCK!

Kyoshi Joe started karate when he was just 8 years old, and what started as something he did as a child became a lifelong passion.

For nearly 30 years, he’s had the privilege of teaching generations of students right here in Plainville.

His goal has never been simply to teach someone how to kick or punch.

It’s about confidence. Discipline. Humility. Patience. And helping students discover what they’re capable of.

And after all these years…

he still loves being on that mat teaching. ❤️🥋

If you’ve trained with Kyoshi Joe over the years, we’d love to hear one of your favorite memories below!
