ACDS ACDS serves individuals with developmental disabilities throughout their lifetime. Located in L.I. NY We have a second facility in Levittown, New York.

ACDS's primary headquarters is located in Plainview, New York. ACDS was originally founded in 1966 by a group of parents on Long Island who were seeking services for their young children with Down syndrome. Since then we have grown and evolved into a lifetime services agency that serves families of individuals with a wide range of disabilities, from before birth until late adulthood. Our programs

are delivered in a variety of settings, including our educational center in Plainview, in the family’s home, in community based programs and in our Individualized Residential Alternative group homes (IRAs). We offer Early Intervention and preschool services, MSC, Dayhab and residential services. We currently have the capacity to serve more than one thousand people across all our programs.

ACDS is proud to announce that it is a recipient of a $2,000 Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation. Through the Neighborhood Grants program, The Starbucks Foundation invites Starbucks partners to nominate local grassroots, community-led nonprofit organizations in their community to receive small grants. The Starbucks Foundation strengthens humanity by transforming lives across the world. Thanks to Starbucks partners and The Starbucks Foundation for recognizing how we are making our communities stronger.

ACDS CEO Mike Durney recently appeared on an episode of "Ryan Meets." Ryan Meets is a talk show on North Shore TV hosted by ACDS Alum Ryan Krug. Ryan is a fantastic interviewer and he asked Mike great questions about ACDS's programs and services, Mike's background in finance, other organizations ACDS works with, and Mike's favorite hobbies. Our Merrick and Plainview Day Hab programs came together for a day full of friendly competition, smiles, and teamwork. Participants proudly represented their color teams as they participated in exciting games, relay races, and fun challenges, all planned and organized by Will.

The day included a well deserved pizza party & a visit from the ice cream truck, giving everyone a chance to enjoy being together.

A huge thank you to Will, our staff, and everyone who helped make the day such a success. Most importantly, thank you to our amazing participants for bringing the energy, sportsmanship, and smiles that made this an unforgettable day!

Monday was a beautiful day for ACDS’ Annual Golf Outing!
Perfect weather, a sold-out golf tournament, nearly 200 guests at dinner, exciting raffles, and the opportunity to honor the incredible Craig made it a day to remember. A proud ACDS preschool graduate, Craig has built an inspiring life as a longtime bank employee, Special Olympics athlete, and ambassador who shares his story with others.

Thank you to our Board, families, staff, sponsors, golfers, tennis players, volunteers, and the entire ACDS community. Your generosity and support make our mission possible. Every dollar raised helps ACDS continue providing exceptional services to children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities.
