Director DeLesa Perez along with several others were able to attend and represent AHEC of the Plains at the National AHEC Organization Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. last week.

It was a week filled with meaningful conversations, collaboration, and innovative ideas focused on strengthening the healthcare workforce in rural and underserved communities. Along with visiting our house and senate representatives to discuss and share the importance of our mission for rural healthcare. We are excited to bring back new knowledge, build stronger partnerships, and continue creating opportunities that improve access to quality healthcare across the communities we serve.

Together, we’re investing in the future of rural healthcare—one connection, one student, and one community at a time.

For all our partners in the Abilene area this is a great event to attend!

Join us for our Rural Health Leadership & Workforce Readiness Summit! All nurses, doctors, students, and other health professionals are encouraged to attend this FREE summit.

We will also have an opportunity for high school students to learn more about professional skills and telemedical health at the High School Telemedicine & Career Readiness Experience portion of the summit. This high school opportunity will take place from 2:00-4:00 PM on March 20th and allow students to take part in Health Match Recruitment & Job Fair to meet possible future employers and learn more about our regions health care providers.

The weather tried to slow us down, but our mission kept us moving!

AHEC of the Plains is out along with DSHS Public Health Region 1 providing immunization training and updates because supporting our healthcare workforce and protecting our communities always comes first.
We’re grateful for the dedication of those who braved the elements today to learn, grow, and serve.

At high levels, it can cause serious health problems.
