This week Miss Wilson’s class learned all about superheroes and what it takes to be a hero! We put our skills to the test during our very own superhero training course and got our bodies moving. We tested our speed, strength, and endurance. We sure have a classroom full of little heroes!

Mrs. Hayes’s class went camping this week! Students enjoyed dramatic play activities in tents and around the campfire. They even went fishing. We used marshmallows on sticks as our painting utensils to create unique works of art. Our favorite activity was our s’mores mix we made by following a recipe and measuring mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and Golden Graham cereal.

Mrs. Carlton’s little learners have been busy exploring the wonderful world of farm animals! We enjoyed reading stories from Miss Wishy Washy and Rooster’s Off to See the World, which gave us opportunities to talk about animals, sounds, colors, and adventures. Our students also worked on their fine motor skills and letter recognition through a variety of hands-on activities. We finger-painted our very own roosters, created artwork using animal footprints, washed farm animals, explored a sensory bin filled with corn while sorting different colored animals, and practiced color matching by sorting animals into their matching colored barns. Through play, stories, art, and sensory experiences, our students are building important skills while having lots of fun learning about life on the farm!

We were so excited to welcome Amazing Athletes to LQA this week! Our students had a great time moving, learning new skills, and building confidence while having fun with their friends!

This week in Mrs. Mills’ class, we learned about community helpers! We played bingo and matching games and even had some parent and grandparent visitors.

We learned how firefighters put out fires and drive fire trucks. We even put out our own chalk flames using water squirters! We learned about doctors and nurses, the tools they use, and what it is like to work in those roles. We also talked about how police officers help keep us safe by making sure people obey the law, and we played Red Light, Green Light.

We read several books throughout the week. Our new director, Ms. Abby, visited the class to read a story and shared how she began her career as a teacher and worked her way into an administrative role.

We are thankful for all our community helpers, especially the volunteers who shared their time with us and helped our students learn more about their community!

Miss Wilson's little scientists were busy experimenting with colored water! They mixed different colors together to see what new colors they could create. Such a fun, hands-on way to explore, make predictions, and learn through play!

We had a wonderful first week at Little Quakers! Mrs. Hayes' class became "Superheroes of Routines" as they practiced the everyday skills that help our classrooms run smoothly! From listening and following directions to sharing, cleaning up, and showing kindness, these little superheroes are learning that making great choices helps everyone have a fun and successful day at school.
