The Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence is expanding its scholarship program for the 2026-27 academic year, thanks to the generosity of community members.

This year includes two new scholarships: the Angie and John Muhlig Scholarship and the Bonnie Hagen Rizzo Memorial Scholarship. They join several other scholarships recognizing academic achievement, career interests, leadership, service and unique talents.

The Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence has named Ira Jones Middle School music teacher Karen Blair and District Technology Director Ryan Schlott as the 2026 Niehus Award recipients.

The awards were presented on Aug. 26, 2026, at the District 202 Board of Education meeting.

Blair was recognized for her dedication to students and the growth of the music and drama programs at Ira Jones.

Schlott was honored for his 25 years of service, leadership and contributions to District 202’s growth and technology initiatives.
