MADE@Plainfield was proud to serve as the host site for the first-ever Indiana Fire Safety Summit!

The Indiana Fire & Public Safety Academy partnered with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to bring fire service professionals, safety advocates, educators, and community partners from across Indiana together under one roof.

Attendees were welcomed by State Fire Marshal Steve Jones before spending the day learning about the latest NFPA updates, fire prevention and safety strategies, Community Risk Reduction, and more.

This is exactly what MADE is here for: providing a space where statewide partners can connect, learn, and strengthen the communities they serve.

We were proud to have it happening right here at MADE@Plainfield!

Learning the Equipment from the Operator’s Seat!

Toyota Material Handling Systems sales staff recently got some hands-on experience with the very products they sell during training with Vincennes University Business & Industry at MADE@Plainfield, giving them a better understanding of what forklift operators experience every day.

The team had the opportunity to operate several styles of forklifts, including Stand-up Reach, Double Reach, Counterbalance, Order Picker, Sit-down Three Wheeler, and Toyota’s latest Multi-Directional model.

One of the highlights was practicing a right-angle stack, or 90-degree turn, with a Reach truck. This maneuver is designed for very narrow aisles, where operators may have just three inches of clearance on either side of the truck!

Experiences like this help sales professionals do more than know the equipment. They can better relate to the operators and customers they work with, understand real-world challenges, and truly talk the talk and walk the walk.

We love seeing hands-on learning in action at MADE!

College Prep Night at MADE!

Recently, students and families gathered at MADE@Plainfield for a night focused on preparing for the college journey ahead!

Students got an inside look at the admissions process by reviewing mock applications, learning what colleges look for, and connecting with representatives from 15+ colleges and universities.

It was a great evening of exploring options, asking questions, and helping students feel more confident about what comes next.

Thanks to Connie with Butler University for leading the charge on this inaugural event!

What if the skills you use every day could also help your community in an emergency?

MADE@Plainfield recently welcomed the Hendricks County Health Partnership for its monthly meeting, featuring the Hendricks County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).

The MRC brings together medical AND non-medical volunteers who receive training to help their community when they’re needed most. From healthcare and mental health to communications, logistics, administration, and more, there’s a place for all kinds of skills.

It’s another great example of how training and skill-building can make an impact far beyond the workplace. They are always looking for help, so sign up if you can!

MADE@Plainfield recently welcomed General Motors Powertrain of Bedford, Indiana, for a site visit and tour of our facility with our partners at Vincennes University Business & Industry!

VU provides related technical instruction for GM-UAW apprenticeship programs, along with additional technical training opportunities for journeypersons beyond apprenticeship completion.

It’s another great example of the work happening right here at MADE. Through apprenticeship, work-and-learn, and degree-connected training opportunities, our partners are helping Hoosiers gain hands-on experience, earn credentials and academic credit, and build skills for long-term career success.

We’re proud to be a place where education and industry can come together to strengthen Indiana’s workforce and create meaningful career pathways.
