Did you know that my PE Teammate, Mr. Wood creates activity videos? The mini workouts are a great brain break for students. Our PE team often uses them for a quick warm up before the PE lesson or for a movement break during health. You can also find the videos on YouTube to try at home! What a week it has been in Physical Education!!
First, thank you to all the families who have brought it empty, gift wrapped boxes for our holiday themed game- shop till you drop. If your family wants to donate a box the last day we will be collecting will be Monday 12.13. So far the students that have played have really enjoyed the game!

This week we celebrated Mrs. Olsonā€™s return from maternity leave. We also thanked Ms. Perry for filling in while Mrs. Olson was out. We wish her the best and we will miss her!
We wanted to congratulate our student teacher, Ms. Miranda on her graduation from Aurora University!! We wish her the best on her new adventure!! We will miss her!

Our year in Physical Education is off to a great start! The Wallin Oaks PE Team consists of Ms. McGrath, Mrs. Olson and Mr. Wood. Ms. McGrath also has a student teacher this semester from Aurora University- Ms. Miranda. Our team is excited to get to know all the new students at Wallin Oaks this year.
Students have been active in PE reviewing basic locomotor movements, exploring personal and general space and playing cooperative games with one another. We are so proud of our students who continue to demonstrate their K9 P.R.I.D.E.
We look forward to an active year K9s!!

My name is Mrs. Olson and I will be one of your three Physical Education teachers this year. I am so excited for the opportunity to help open Plainfieldā€™s newest elementary school, Wallin Oaks! Iā€™m looking forward to creating memorable experiences for our students!
A few things to know about me:
I have been a teacher in the Plainfield school district for 12 years! I have spent all my time as a Wildcat at Walkerā€™s Grove. I will miss my old students this year and wish them all the best!!
I am a certified K-12 Physical Education teacher with my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and an endorsement in Health Education.
I have my masters degree in Educational Leadership.
I grew up in Bolingbrook and now live in Plainfield with my husband, Mr. Olson and our daughter, Piper (she just turned 2). We are also expecting Baby Olson #2 this September!!
I canā€™t wait to build our Wallin Oaks P.R.I.D.E. with you this year!! See you soon K9ā€™s!!

Thank you for all the wonderful memories Walkerā€™s Grove šŸ’š

Goodbye Walker's Grove,
It has been a pleasure to be a Physical Education and Health Teacher at Walker's Grove for the past 12 years. I want you to know that I have accepted a PE/Health position at Wallin Oaks Elementary School and will be leaving Walker's Grove at the completion of this school year. I am excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity to collaborate in opening a new, student centered Physical Education program at Wallin Oaks.
I am grateful for all the years of growth that I experienced at Walker's Grove. I have worked with many teammates at WG including my mentor, Steve Riederer who taught me the importance of having fun with and getting to know the students. I've had other significant PE teammates over my tenure that have taught me skills that I will continue to use in the future. Matt Burghgraef, Mike Galati, Stephanie Germann, Corey Carver, Stacy Daniels, Dina Jansen and Christian Cores have all had a positive impact on my teaching career. Mr. Carver and Mr. Cores will continue to be at Walker's Grove this fall.
I will miss all the students at WG and wish you all nothing but the best!!

Kids Heart Challenge thank you prizes from 2020 have officially been sent home. If you have a student who is remote (and they are receiving a thank you prize) your childā€™s teacher will know when and how you can pick up their prizes. If you have a student in 6th grade or a student who has moved, who should have received a prize from last years event- please message me and we can schedule a pick up time. H e l l o!! Iā€™m Mrs. Olson!! Allow me to reintroduce myself as we jump into a new year and a new way of teaching PE remotely!!
-This is my 12th year teaching and my 12th year at WG! (I used to be known as Miss Turvey)
-I grew up in Bolingbrook, spent the last 5 years living in Morris and now Iā€™m excited to announce that Mr. Olson, Piper and I are now Plainfield residents!
-I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a Health Education Endorsement
-I also have a Masterā€™s degree in Educational Leadership
-Iā€™m looking forward to the new growth opportunity that this school year will provide. It will be unlike any other school year and Iā€™m sure it will push me WAY out of my comfort zone! We WILL all make this a great year!
