Good afternoon,

Unfortunately due to driver shortages we have to combine U14 & U16 today. Which means students who ride on U16 will be approximately 45 minutes later then their normal stop time.

If possible, we are encouraging families to pick up their children today at 3:30. If you are picking up your child, please call Sandy in the office 802-454-7777. Thank you.

1st Annual Calais Community Resource Celebration
Friends: YOU are INVITED!
What: 1st Annual Calais Community Celebration & Resource Night
When: February 2, 2023 from 6-8 PM
Where: Calais Elementary School, Lightening Ridge Road, Calais, Vermont
Who: You, Your Family, Friends and Neighbors

On February 2, 2023, from 6pm until 8pm, Calais Elementary School and The Friends of Calais organization will be hosting a joint community gathering at Calais Elementary School to connect volunteers and community members with intergenerational opportunities for fun, enrichment, volunteerism and service in our town and we want YOU to come join us!

We hope that this gathering will inspire connections among community members IN PERSON and allow folks to meet, chat and explore all the many ways in which the Calais community can come together through shared experiences, hobbies and interests through participation in local organizations, clubs and classes. Organizations and individuals who want to share about their classes, volunteer opportunities or who wish to create new programming for the community will be tabling in the library and there will be snacks and visiting. Groups working together for the greater good, spreading kindness and having fun in our town will be represented. We are extending invitations to the entire Calais community including members of our local senior community, families of Calais Elementary and U-32, homeschoolers and all residents of Calais and its surrounding towns. If you wish to table, you--along with other agencies, services, and community resources--will be provided with a table space and a forum to promote awareness of your organization and display informational material about ways community members can get involved.

If you simply want to see what's shakin in town, just stop by and say hello!

We will have pizza, a movie, and games for the children in the gym while the adults enjoy exploring and connecting with community resources in the library. We are looking for teenage volunteers to help organize activities in the gym so please sign up if you're interested.

Interested organizations who would like to table at the event can RSVP by 1/23/23 to our school counselor, Pamela Mallett via email at [email protected]. General questions can be directed to Friends of Calais President Mary Alice Proffitt at [email protected]

A Message and Invitation from our Principal, Cat Fair:
-----
Hello Calais Community,

I am feeling the need to find more ways to connect with the younger families in our community. I love working with your children each day and want to be sure I have a connection with their families too.

I’m holding a Coffee talk with Ms. Cat in the library on Thursday morning, 1/19/23 from 8:45-9:45. No agenda, no problems to solve, just some great conversations over coffee and Dena’s pastries. If you’re interested in connecting but this time doesn’t work for you, PLEASE email me [email protected] . I anticipate if I want to connect with all families, I need to be accessible and will plan some evenings and some virtual times as well. I hope you’ll join me.

Thanks,

Ms. Cat, Principal
