Turns out Jim Ryser is not only a great musician, studio maestro, hunter, and life coach…so add woodworker to the list! We have been thoroughly enjoying building a sweet little parlor guitar over the last couple months. I’ll go ahead and leak a secret, we have been filming everything and will be releasing an online building course that you can download at a very reasonable price later this year!

After a successful trial run, we tweaked the toolpath a bit, and gave it a go. This is holly inlaid into Honduras rosewood. This will be the headstock veneer for David Wensits Orchestra Model guitar.

We’ve been doing v-groove inlay on headstocks. It works pretty well, and allows you to get pretty dainty. We have been using holly as it’s the only wood that stays fairly white. This is a beta test for student David Wensits inlayed into walnut. The final inlay will be into Honduras rosewood.
