Plainfield Teen Parenting Program Any expectant or parenting mothers and fathers who attend Plainfield High School are eligible to participate in the program.

For over 25 years we have been providing expectant or parenting mothers and fathers that attend Plainfield Public Schools the support they need to in order to graduate from high school and strengthen their parenting skills. The Parent Linking Program provides more than 150 teen parents in 8 schools with the support needed in order for them to graduate high school and strengthen their parenting ski

lls. In exchange for free child care, participants are required to attend weekly groups in addition to the normal academic curriculum required for graduation.

Our final Teen Parenting Program session was EVERYTHING!! 🙌 Huge shoutout to Rebecca Carlson and Lola LoLove from Young Lives for bringing the energy and making today so special for our moms and babies 💛

We had water play, painting, bubbles, laughter, smiles—just pure FUN from start to finish!! 💦🎨🫧

Our final group activity with Ms. Faith was such a success! 💛

This week, we focused on the importance of knowing what resources are available right here in our community—how to find them, how to use them, and how they can support both our students and their children. It was an eye-opening and empowering session for everyone involved.

We’re so grateful to Ms. Faith for all the time, knowledge, and care she’s shared with our program this summer. We’re excited to welcome her back again in September!

Week 2 of our Summer Program was both powerful and reflective 💛

With Faith Saunders our teen parents explored The Evolving Self: Identity and Grief. Through meaningful conversation and guided activities, students took time to look inward and honor their personal journeys.

They created heartfelt journal entries to both their past and future selves—recognizing how far they’ve come while setting intentions for where they’re going.

So proud of their courage, honesty, and growth. ✨

Today kicked off our Summer Activity Series with The Creator’s Mindset: Play & Resourcefulness—and what a great start it was!

Hosted by Faith Saunders from ICanMakeADifference.org, our students had the opportunity to create texture boards alongside their children, turning simple materials into meaningful learning tools. Texture boards are more than just fun—they support sensory development, encourage exploration, and help little ones build important cognitive and fine motor skills. Through touch, children learn about the world around them in a hands-on, engaging way.

It was beautiful to see our young parents actively participating, creating, and bonding with their children through play. This is what learning together looks like 💛

Our little ones are soaking up every moment—laughing, playing, learning, and just being kids. From outdoor fun to creative activities, it’s been such a joy watching them explore and enjoy the season together.

Today we celebrate one of our incredible seniors who is not only graduating, but also preparing to welcome a new life into the world. 💕🎓🤰

Her strength, determination, and resilience have carried her through this journey, and we couldn’t be more proud of all she has accomplished. Balancing school while getting ready to become a mom is no small feat—and she did it with grace and courage.

✨ Alumni Spotlight ✨

This time of year is always so special to us 💙 With so many graduations—big and small—we get to celebrate not just our current students, but the incredible journeys of our alumni and their children.

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Alexis, a proud graduate of the Teen Parenting Program, Class of 2014. Back then, she was working hard to build a future for herself and her daughter—and today, that hard work is shining through in the most beautiful way.

Her daughter, Katherine, is now graduating and heading off to high school! 🎓

Watching our alumni grow and then seeing their children reach these milestones is what it’s all about. Alexis, you should be incredibly proud—not just of Katherine, but of everything you’ve accomplished along the way.

We love sharing our success stories—here’s another one from today’s graduation.

It’s been an honor to watch this young mom grow over the past year and seeing her reach this day means a lot. She walked into graduation with her baby by her side, both of them in cap and gown, while her family stood there cheering her on. It was truly one of those moments that makes you pause and take it all in.

She worked hard for this, stayed focused, and kept pushing forward for herself and her little one. So proud of her and everything she’s accomplished. 🎓💛
