I teach a small private Spanish 4 class. We just spent the last month holding class in the kitchen! Over the past few weeks we made homemade tortillas, gorditas, guacamole, pico de gallo, pupusas, platanos, pan con tomates... Best way to learn Spanish is using Spanish!

One of the reasons I love teaching Spanish are the conversations I have with my students in Spanish! Today one of my classes was starting a food unit. My students and I had a lengthy conversation in Spanish about foods we like, don't like, used to like, etc. One of my students informed us that she doesn't eat eggs. Her reason is she doesn't want to eat baby chicks. When I started to remind her that the eggs we eat will never result in chicks, she interrupted saying "I know, I know! Baby chicks are made when a rooster and a hen fall in love and have a special hug! But I still dont eat eggs!" Yes, this happened entirely in Spanish! I love it when my students surprise me with their ability to surprise me in Spanish!
