Students in the afternoon STEAM classes are getting ready for garden season! Our swamp milkweed seeds were supposed to go out in the fall but we missed our window. It is very important for these seeds to be outside as they have to go through cold stratification, a process where the seeds freeze and thaw multiple times before losing their hard outer shell and blooming. As such, the students have built mini makeshift "greenhouses" that will allow the milkweed seed to go through the cold stratification process and then germinate in the spring. They will then be transferred to the garden extension.
