The Bohemian Grove is a secret invite-only organization for elite men to gather each year in a redwood grove where they burn a giant owl effagy and keep tight-lipped about everything else they do there.

But it's no surprise that elite men would be making major plans at Bohemian Grove.

The Grove is where the Manhattan Project planning meeting took place in September 1942, which subsequently led to the atomic bomb.

Those attending this meeting included Ernest Lawrence, J. Robert Oppenheimer, the presidents of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, along with representatives of Standard Oil and General Electric as well as various military officials.

Lawrence and Oppenheimer hosted the meeting.
