Gym Workout
If your baby is going to get from lying on her back to standing, dancing and climbing she is going to have to work out, seriously WORKOUT. She doesn't need a personalised programme from a Trainer because all of the sequential steps are programmed into every baby's DNA, including your baby.
In our culture this knowledge of/about infant motor development got lost somewhere along the way, and with good intent adults 'tummy' babies, sit them, stand them, walk them when they are not ready. How do we know they're not ready? If they cannot do any of those milestones without your help; if you have to help them get there–or put them in a device that sits or walks them–you know Baby hasn't done the required workouts required for those motor development achievements.
Dr Emmi Pikler had a guiding principle for those who live and work with babies: "Do not put a baby into a position they cannot get into or out of by themselves." If this is new information for you, sit with it for a bit. Watch your baby working out when you lie him on his back on a firm surface. All that leg movement, arm movement and stretching, that's your baby diligently doing 'The Full-on Core Workout" that establishes core balance in preparation to attempt the next move in their genetically encoded programme.
If you are interested in Unassisted Infant Motor Development you can't go past Dr Emmi Pikler's book, "Unfolding of Infants' Natural Gross Motor Development". The drawings by Klara Pap show every movement in every sequence from lying on the back to standing and dancing.
