I was recently reading an article, titled "Children’s Play Territories: Hideouts and Play Domains as Protective
Spaces in Childcare Play Culture" and was noodling on the hideouts and spaces ("play territories") in our playspace that allows the kids privacy and autonomy. Today, as I watched these friends hiding and playing in the forsythia, I'm brought back to my childhood, hiding in my neighbor's willow tree, feeling safe, protected, and finally like my own person. 💚
