We were excited to welcome students and families to our first event table as Lumera this morning at the 4th Annual Special Education Resource Fair, hosted by the Rochester City School District!

Miss Ally chatted with familiar students and administrators, and met so many new students and families through conversation about school-based Music Therapy services. (Note to self: Bring more pamphlets next time! ✔️)

We wanted our table design to evoke feelings of joy, creativity, and a love for music and kids. 💜 Thank you to everyone who stopped by to experience the joy of learning with us!

Special education can feel like a lot to figure out on your own. The good news? You don't have to.

We’re bringing experts, local resources, and families together under one roof this Saturday. Come get direct answers, talk with people who understand the process, and grab the info you need for your child.

Bring the kids! We’ll have fun activities, entertainment, and treats set up so you can get connected while the whole family enjoys the morning.

What if school didn’t ask kids to fit the system…

…and instead, the system got better at making room for them?💡

We partner with schools to bring neuroaffirming music therapy, creative support, and a whole lot of curiosity to the table. We’re here to help students feel seen and help the people around them understand how to support them.

Miss Noa works with students ages 3-22 in Rochester area school districts and UPK programs, aaaaand anywhere else the schools Lumera supports needs services! 🚙 This is year no. 1️⃣4️⃣ for Noa working in schools, and she’s so excited to captain Lumera’s maiden voyage this school year! 🛳️ 🎶

When she’s not making music, Noa loves being a Mama to her 3 young kiddos, and trying new restaurants (when child palates and/or date night permits 🤭).

Ms. Baker works with elementary through high school-aged students in the Greater Rochester school districts Lumera supports. This is year no. 6️⃣ for Hannah working in schools, and her first year on our team! 🎉 When she’s not making music, Hannah loves to collect rocks, read, and make jewelry!

Rise and… SING! 🎶 We’re (sort of) caffeinated, fully-grown adults starting our morning on the floor. 🥱 Why? Because we work with kids, of course! The floor is often a place we find ourselves making music in our therapy sessions, so we did our experiential workshop together there this morning!

Each school near is a new opportunity to be creative: turn poetry into chants, explore group body percussion, incorporate the parachute into a melodic improv… the possibilities are -literally- endless.

This right here is reason no. 6726474 that we LOVE being school-based therapists!!!!
