The Berkshire Museum’s Revolution 250 Mobile Museum Unit is currently on display in the Taconic High School library. Ninth grade US History classes will be using the mobile unit as inspiration and an exemplar for their 1st Quarter research project in which they will be creating their own artifacts to put on display in the school library. This is part of a year-long focus on historical investigation that will culminate in their end-of-year History Fair projects in June. We are looking forward to what they can create! ⚡️💚💛

Students in our Advanced Manufacturing program engaged in a collaborative project where the students shared responsibility in the process of measuring and recreating a bench vice jaw for both the Advanced Manufacturing and Metal Fabrication programs. Students recorded the dimensions of the jaw and created a rough hand drawing which was then taken to the computer lab where a solidworks 3d model as well as technical drawing was created. Students then programmed our VMC’s (HAAS machines) to machine the jaws from a solid piece of stock. Other students were utilizing the technical drawing created to produce the vice jaws on the manual milling machines to showcase the different methods to produce the same workpiece. It’s a new school year and our carpentry program has been busy at the Habitat House! They have been working on learning how to install drywall, as well as watching their work stand up to the test of a HERS test. The HERS rater went through the step-by-step process of a blower door test on a new construction project. The blower door test shows any air leakage that comes through the thermal envelope of the house. From day 1 of construction last year, the students used the necessary air sealing details during framing and roofing to make the house airtight. The students reflected on areas that they did well, and just a few areas that needed more work. They passed the blower door test on the first try, which the HERS rater thought was very impressive! Congrats to our carpentry students! ⚡️💚💛

Our Environmental Science and Technology students went behind the scenes at the Bel Air Dam Removal Project, seeing firsthand how engineers and environmental professionals are removing a high-hazard dam and restoring the West Branch of the Housatonic River.
Alongside AECOM and SumCo engineers, students explored everything from environmental testing and habitat restoration to site planning, heavy equipment, and the engineering behind a complex dam removal.
The big takeaway? Restoring a river takes a team. Science, engineering, construction, and restoration come together to create a healthier, more resilient environment.
And for our students, it’s a glimpse into the real-world careers—and real-world impact—waiting for them beyond the classroom ⚡️💚💛

Grade 10 students in Taconic’s Early College Pathway were busy getting a jump start on their future! Students enrolled in this pathway will earn at least 15 college credits by the time they graduate! Taconic is one of the few CTE schools in the Commonwealth with this official designation from Massachusetts. We are very excited to offer this opportunity and can’t wait to see where the journey brings our scholars! ⚡️💚💛
