We are officially running a Summer Theater Workshop Series on three summer Sundays: August 2nd, 9th, and 16th for kids ages 7–14 at Maine Central Institute!

In these workshops, kids will get to explore:
🎭 Theater & Improv (for storytelling and confidence)
🩰 Movement & Vocals (for expression and stage presence)
🎨 Art (for hands-on creativity)
It's a great, low-pressure way to try something new before the school year starts. Registration links and details to come!

MCI’s Theatre Art’s room has been busy this past week with STEAM students from Taiwan. Last week we enjoyed Improv and Acting workshops. This week, it’s Costume and Set Design. Just look at this work. These renders are amazing!

Another Senior Celebration! Congratulations, Abi Rowell! MCI Drama is so excited for you!

We are proud to announce Abigail Rowell as the winner of 2026 essay contest. Abigail was awarded $500 for her beautfully written essay on Growing Connections: The Power of Gardening in Small Town Life. Abigail plans to study marine biology this fall. The Pittsfield Community Garden Club wishes her the best.

Celebrating the Arts!
Last night, 28 MCI students were inducted into the 2026 Visual and Performing Arts Honor Society. We are so proud of this new class and the creative impact they have made in the Arts and the world around them.

Wrapping up our Senior Celebration - Demarcus Smith!
Demarcus's favorite memory was MCI's sophomore year one act, He really liked the show that year, and it was his first time being a member of the Drama Team it so it was a very fun first experience.

Demarcus's plans for next year start this summer where he will be doing an internship at Skowhegan's Outdoor Project until the Fall. Since the program is connected to UMF , he will most likely use the credits he earns and attend UMF.

We will miss you all, Senior Class of '26. Thank you for your contributions and talent you've shared with us over the years.

More Seniors to celebrate!! Scott Martin is another four year Drama Team member.
Next year, Scott will be planning attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to major in Aerospace Engineering and, hopefully, minor in astrophysics. He plans on obtaining his masters degree in Aerospace engineering and have hopes to work in rocket engineering for future space travel.

Scott's favorite memory from drama was at New England’s this year and last year meeting new people and exploring the new towns with my friends. "I also enjoyed seeing the shows at New England’s as they were typically the best of the year for our region."
