I am Julie Kimball, MSAD 53’s new Superintendent of Schools. Having worked in MSAD 53 for the past three years, it has been a true pleasure getting to know the students, staff, families, and community members who take such pride in our school district.

There are exciting times ahead! Here are some to name a few:

• New School Construction: Our new school process is moving forward with a September 15th referendum on the horizon. Our goal remains to break ground in the summer of 2027.

• Career Exploration: We are continuing our partnership with Somerset County Technical Center to bring real-world career opportunities to our middle school students.

• Student Enrichment: Our popular enrichment programming will continue throughout the school year at Vickery.

So much incredible work happens in our classrooms every day. If you ever have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If my time in MSAD 53 has taught me anything, it’s that the residents of Pittsfield, Detroit, and Burnham understand education is a team effort. I am so thrilled to be a part of this team!

Warsaw Announcement: The Warsaw Summer Learning Camp came to a close last week. Over the past four weeks, students had an opportunity to earn badges with daily challenges. Some highlights from the camp included working in the school garden, making lemonade, and creating solar ovens from pizza boxes in order to make s'mores! A special thank you to the Pittsfield Convenience Store for donating the pizza boxes!
