Dear Morningside families,

We are cordially inviting you to participate in the FREE IN-PERSON 21st CCLC Summer Program of 2021. Students will be granted the opportunity to experience the spirit and atmosphere of the Olympics in their own school! If your child is energetic, loves to explore the world and our community, needs/wants to socialize and just enjoys great academic and social experiences, this program is the right fit.

Working with school day teachers, our young Olympic athletes will enhance their reading, writing, and math skills and participate in fun, recreational math games. Additionally, students will explore art in its different dimensions through IS183's Learning through Art summer program and the Berkshire Theatre group class, and learn more about science with the Berkshire Museums GSK program.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Dates: 6/28/21- 7/30/21

Days/Time: 9:00-2:30, M-F
NO Cost to Attend
Breakfast and Lunch provided
Transportation provided (in-district students who receive bussing to/from school)

REGISTRATIONS DUE BY June 18, 2021

Acceptance is based on a variety of factors including student needs, behavior, and attendance.

A huge shout out to some amazing 5th grade artists whose work was featured on the Kidspace social media instagram account! The work was created during virtual art class, in response to stories shared from professional artist Wendy Red Star, during her virtual visit to Morningside's online art class. Wendy Red Star did a residency program with Kidspace and visited our class live in person, over zoom, to share about her work and inspire us with stories.

Please take a moment to check out the Kidspace facebook and instagram accounts and share in the recognition and success of our students who have created incredible artwork and had some pretty exciting art opportunities while we were virtual.

This week all students in Grades 1-5 used Chrome Music Lab's Song Maker to create compositions. I just HAVE TO share some of my favorites, as the attention to detail & effort put into these songs is unbelievable!!

Please note that the links will take you to the site where the kids' songs have been saved. However, they are working web pages, like a Google doc. If you click on anything other than the play/stop button or you will alter the piece. So please be careful. The kids will be disappointed if their work is accidentally changed.
