Ten women. Ten stories of leadership, service, resilience, and impact.

This year, The King’s Center will celebrate **10 successful Black women** whose work is helping strengthen families, support communities, create opportunities, and inspire others.

The honorees for the **Successful Journeys Gala 2026** are:

🚨 PREPAREDNESS IS NOT OPTIONAL.

Recent power outages in Gary, Indiana showed just how quickly everyday life can change when electricity and other basic resources are disrupted.

Families were suddenly faced with questions many of us rarely think about:

How long could the food in your home last without power?
Do you have safe water stored?
Could your household function for several days during an extended outage?
Do you know how to grow, preserve, and store food before an emergency happens?

That is why The King’s Center, in partnership with Hope & Harmony Haven, is hosting our Gardening & Produce Planting Workshop Series.

This is bigger than gardening.

This is about preparedness. Self-sufficiency. Resilience. Community.

Our first workshop will focus on Food & Water Preparedness while providing practical education in:

🌱 Home gardening basics
🌱 Raised beds and container gardening
🌱 Seasonal planting strategies
🌱 Seed storage and seed saving
🌱 Indoor gardening and hydroponics
🌱 Composting and soil health
🌱 Preparing and safely storing food and water

We don’t prepare because we are afraid of what might happen.

We prepare because wisdom says we should be ready.

K.I.A.R.E. — Kind Initiatives Are Rarely Expected — Foundation is dedicated to empowering students by providing supplemental financial assistance and essential resources that help ensure every young person has an opportunity to participate in meaningful experiences.

From life-skills development and extracurricular activities to academic celebrations, graduation ceremonies, and high school proms, K.I.A.R.E. helps remove financial barriers that can prevent students from experiencing important milestones.

Join us in celebrating Jordan Ham, Founder of Cali Coded, Inc., as one of this year’s distinguished honorees at the Successful Journeys Gala 2026!

Cali Coded, Inc. exists to provide a safe, empowering space where youth can grow mentally, socially, and emotionally. Through year-round mentorship, structure, and positive opportunities, the organization helps young people discover purpose, build confidence, and stay on a path toward success.

Through the CODED UP Inc. Community Center, Jordan has created a youth-focused safe haven that offers education, mentorship, recreation, and essential resources for children and teens ages 6–18. By promoting life skills, character development, and mental wellness, the organization is reducing youth exposure to violence, neglect, and idle time replacing it with purpose, guidance, and hope.

Jordan’s unwavering commitment to investing in the next generation embodies the spirit of this year’s gala, and we are honored to recognize her outstanding leadership and lasting impact on our community.
