Calling all banned books readers AND quilters: we want to celebrate all month long with you!

Let us know your favorite banned book in the comments, and come visit the JCEC room on the second floor at Carnegie Main (in Oakland) to participate in our banned books activity all October long. We're asking members of our community to decorate a fabric square representing their favorite banned book to be part of a community "quilt" project by CLP! Materials provided (while supplies last).

You can decorate your square and then make a trip upstairs to our Local History & Genealogy Department on October 24th from 10am-4pm for our Quilt Documentation Day. You can browse old quilts, meet local quilters, and connect with area quilting guilds!

Whether it's books or quilts, our resources will always be FOR THE PEOPLE.

Happy Banned Books Week!

We put careful consideration into what is added to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s collections, all with the goal of building collections that reflect the diversity of our communities, offer multiple points of view on a topic, and support intellectual freedom.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to explore all that their library has to offer. Now more than ever, your donation helps protect the freedom to read! 📚

With a gift of just $10, you can help cover the cost of a book for our collection. Please consider giving today at carnegielibrary.org/bannedbooks
