πŸ‘πŸ‘ πŸ‘Three cheers for Staff Council supporting Pitt staff!

The University of Pittsburgh staff that gathered today for the annual Pitt Staff Council Spring Assembly had a chance to learn how to navigate change through practical strategies, meaningful dialogue, and cross-unit connections.

A thank you goes out to Staff Council member Jamelle Price for capturing two important take aways from the sessions.

STAFF MATTERS: Staff Council revives its annual Campus Safety Crawl 05/01/2026

Big news for the Pitt community β€” the Campus Safety Crawl is back! 🐾

Pitt Staff Council is reviving this beloved tradition on May 5 after a pause since 2019. This year's crawl brings together a powerful group of campus and community stakeholders β€” including Pitt Police, Environmental Health & Safety, Planning & Construction, Mobility, Community Affairs, and student government reps β€” to walk through Oakland together and identify safety concerns firsthand.

Whether it's a crosswalk that needs repainting, a lighting issue, an accessibility barrier, or a damaged sign, the goal is to see the problems and get the right people working to fix them.

Can't make it on May 5? No worries β€” another crawl is planned for the fall, and you can submit concerns anytime through the Virtual Safety Crawl at https://www.staffcouncil.pitt.edu/virtual-campus-safety-crawl.

Read all about it in the University Times πŸ‘‰ https://www.utimes.pitt.edu/news/staff-matters-staff-7

It is a responsibility shared by everyone in Oakland, including our students, staff and faculty. It is a shared responsibility that we all must take an active...

Allen Greene, Director of Athletics, reflects on his most rewarding moments at Pitt. For him, it all comes back to people. When asked about his proudest moment in his current role, he likens the question to choosing a favorite child. Instead, he speaks of the warm, welcoming, and genuine people that make up the Pittsburgh community, and how those interactions make him proud to represent the University of Pittsburgh.

A great reminder that at the heart of any institution, it's the people who make it meaningful.
