We're back from PyCon US 2026 in Long Beach!
It was Tony and Jeff's first time as speakers, and they gave a talk at the Education Summit on how KangaCode uses an RPG coding game to help kids learn real Python. The week brought a lot of warm conversations, generous feedback, and one dad who came up after the talk to say he couldn't wait to fly home and have his daughter try KangaCode. That one made our week.
We also brought a camera and interviewed a bunch of attendees on the question everyone's debating right now: does anyone still need to learn Python in the AI era?
Huge thank you to everyone who came up to chat, share encouragement, and tell us they liked KangaCode. Hearing it in person meant a lot.
What do you think? Does learning Python still matter in the AI era? Drop a comment π
See you at PyCon US 2027! β¨

Looking for a fun and engaging way to introduce kids to real Python coding? Join us live for a friendly 30-minute walkthrough where we'll show you exactly how KangaCode works and how to get your child or class started β guiding our main character Kanga through an RPG coding game!
What you'll see:
1. How to set up a KangaCode account for your child or classroom (step-by-step);
2. How the gamified maps and challenges teach real Python, not just drag-and-drop blocks like Scratch;
3. A live walkthrough of a beginner challenge, so you can see exactly what kids experience;
4. Q&A: ask us anything about using KangaCode at home or in the classroom.
Perfect for:
1. Parents exploring coding for kids ages 8β15, especially if Scratch feels too limiting or boring;
2. CS Teachers looking for a scaffolded, classroom-ready Python tool;
3. Homeschool families β wanting a structured, self-paced coding curriculum.
No prior coding experience required! We'll guide you through everything. Stop by, say hi in the chat, and learn how Kanga can help the young learners start their Python learning!

Great news! KangaCode's founders Jeff Cheng & Tony Jiang are speaking at 2026 Education Summit in Long Beach, California!
We're thrilled to share that both of our talk proposals have been accepted.
π Morning talk (10:00 AM): Learning Python Through KangaCode
π Afternoon deep-dive (2:10 PM): How an RPG Structure Increased Focus and Self-Directed Learning
The Education Summit brings together Python educators from around the world to share what is working in the classroom. This year's theme couldn't be more timely: teaching Python in the age of AI. How do we help K-12 students build real skills like problem-solving, debugging, and intentional design when GenAI can write the code for them?
That is exactly the challenge KangaCode was built to tackle. We would love to connect with fellow educators, researchers, and anyone passionate about the future of coding education for K-12 students.
See you on May 14 at Room 104C!
