Students from Obama Middle School visited Pittsburgh Liberty to share stories they composed in Spanish. Liberty students enjoyed listening to the stories in Spanish while seeing firsthand how foreign languages can connect, create, and inspire. Thank you to our Obama students for making this a special day of learning!

For our 5th-grade M&M project, we learned how to use math in a fun and hands-on way by sorting and counting different colors of M&M's. First, we made a hypothesis about which color would have the highest amount and which color would have the lowest amount in the bag. Then, we organized the data into intervals and created bar graphs to compare the colors. We also learned how to convert fractions into decimals and percents by using the number of each color compared to the total number of M&M's. After that, we made percent circles to show the data visually. This project helped us understand graphing, percents, fractions, and predictions while using colorful candy to make learning exciting.
