Student Opportunity: Become a Student Board Representative

Applications are now open for the 2025–2026 Student Board Representative position! Rising juniors and seniors in PPS with a GPA of 2.5 or higher are encouraged to apply. Student representatives attend monthly Board meetings, share student perspectives, collaborate with district leaders, and play a key role in shaping the future of PPS.

Deadline to apply is June 11, 2025.

Pittsburgh Public School District: Hello PPS Families! Today is the final day to enter the 2nd Annual Black History Month Competition! PPS students are encouraged to showcase their creativity while exploring the rich legacy of the Harlem Renaissance.

Choose from three categories:
✍️ Creative Writing
🎨 Visual Art
🎵 Music/Dance

Prizes:
🥇 1st Place: $250
🥈 2nd Place: $100
🥉 3rd Place: $50

Submissions can be dropped off at the Administration Building (341 S. Bellefield Ave) or email [email protected].
Winners will be announced February 20! Thank you!

Pittsburgh Public Schools is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Black History Competition, inviting all students to explore the Harlem Renaissance—a transformative era of African American cultural, artistic, and political growth.

Participants are encouraged to select one aspect of the Harlem Renaissance, such as literature, music/dance, fashion, art, theater, or politics, and explain its influence on society and its lasting impact on African American culture for future generations.

Students can enter in one of three categories:
Original Creative Writing Piece (500 words max, such as essays or poems)
Visual Art
Music/Dance
Prizes:

First Place: $250
Second Place: $100
Third Place: $50

Submissions are due by Wednesday, February 12, 2025, and can be dropped off in person at the Administration Building (341 S. Bellefield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213) or emailed to [email protected]. Winners will be notified on Friday, February 14, 2025, and announced on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
