Science, creativity, and curiosity were in full swing with our March Gelfand Outreach classes! Here are some highlights from a few other featured courses, including “All About the Brain,” “Homemade Cosmetics,” and “Liquid Science.”

We had a great time this past Saturday at the March session for our Spring series Gelfand Outreach classes. Thank you to all teachers and TAs who helped make this weekend a success. A special shoutout to Dr. Xaq Pitkow for hosting his popular class, "Brains & AI, Origami & Illusions", and Dr. Maarten Sap and Dr. Daniel Fried for hosting their brand new class, "Communicating with People and AI". Students commented they had a blast!

February with Gelfand meant lab coats on, hands in, and science in action! 🧪🔬 🧬
Our latest GO classes offered an amazing array of hands-on experiences, all in the lab! Students explored Blood Typing, the Microscopic World of Cells, DNA Detection, DNA & Evolution, and DNA Fingerprinting in Forensics.
We’re so proud of our scientists this month and can’t wait to see what March and spring bring!

Last week, the Gelfand Outreach STEMgineers facilitated an activity for students at Clara Barton Elementary for their STEAM night. Our volunteers led students in a hands-on exercise to build their own straw rockets, learning about aerodynamics and engineering. Students had a blast creating their rockets and measuring how far they could launch them at a target.

Join us on February 21st for Chemistry of Shampoo (Grades 4 to 5) and put shampoos to the test by measuring pH, foam, viscosity, and more to determine what really makes a shampoo effective!

We kicked off our first session of GO Saturday classes this past weekend, just before the snowstorm hit. We had a blast with some unique classes and great learning opportunities for our students!
