📣 Important Update for Minadeo Families 📣

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, Pittsburgh Minadeo PreK–5 will transition to remote synchronous (live) instruction due to an unexpected issue with our building’s cooling system. The school building will not be open to students or families.

Students will begin with their homeroom teachers at 10:00 a.m. This adjusted start time will give our school team an opportunity to shift the day’s plans to the remote environment while continuing to provide high-quality teaching and learning for our students.

Students will follow the Minadeo Remote Bell Schedule and participate in live, standards-aligned instruction throughout the school day. During live instruction, students are expected to:

Log in on time and participate actively.
Keep their cameras on and remain visible.
Use a blurred background or an appropriate, non-offensive virtual background if desired.
Respond to questions, participate in discussions and activities, and demonstrate their learning as directed by their teachers.

Teachers will share classroom access information and any additional directions with families through Schoology and/or TalkingPoints.

If you experience difficulty accessing instruction, please contact your child’s teacher through TalkingPoints or call the school at (412) 529-4015. If your child does not have their district-issued charger, a USB-C cord and compatible wall plug may be used to charge the device.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we make this unexpected transition. ❤️💙

Principal Mason, Mrs. Shoup, and Mrs. Handler started their weekend by joining student tutors and team members from the University of Pittsburgh's Gismondi Neighborhood Education Program for the program’s first Beginning-of-the-Year Summit!

Participants heard from the program director, the University’s vice chancellor, and Mr. Gismondi himself. They also collaborated around the importance of literacy, the science of reading, and how we can apply this knowledge to intentionally engage students of all needs and backgrounds.

We are excited to continue strengthening this wonderful partnership and expanding meaningful learning opportunities for our Mustangs. Stay tuned for more information about what is ahead! ❤️💙

Day 2 is complete—thank you, Minadeo families, for another strong day! ❤️💙

A few important safety reminders:

🚗 Please drive slowly during drop-off and pick-up.

🚙 The gate opens at 3:00 p.m. for PreK dismissal. During K–5 dismissal, families must remain in their vehicles and follow the car line. Parking and walking up to pick up students is not permitted.

🛝 The playground will reopen at 4:10 p.m., once dismissal is complete.

📱 Please remind students to demonstrate Mustang PRIDE in the arrival area. All students must walk through the metal detectors, and cell phones and other personal electronic devices must be turned off and placed by the student into their assigned pouch.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep arrival and dismissal safe and smooth for everyone!

08/25/2026

What a great first day for our students in grades 1–5! 🎉 We saw so many smiling, engaged students throughout the building, and we loved seeing the smiling and supportive faces of our families during arrival and drop-off. ❤️💙

As we continue settling into our routines, please remember:

🚌 Only place your child on the bus to which they are officially assigned. Check HAC or the email sent by the Transportation Department for current transportation information. Please do not assume that last year’s arrangements carried over. Contact Principal Mason with questions or requests for changes.

😴 A good night’s sleep is critical to student success. Reestablishing bedtimes and school-night routines may take time, but beginning now will help students arrive rested and ready to learn.

Thank you for partnering with us and helping make our first day a success! Let’s continue to Level Up and Press Play on Possibility! 🎮
