Five longtime friends and WPSD alumni, who have golfed together for more than 40 years since their school days, reunited at the 19th Annual WPDGA Tournament at Rolling Acres Golf Course on August 8-9, 2026. Their friendship began at WPSD, where they coordinated tee times and weekend stays using permission slips and teletypewriters, and later grew into co-founding the Western Pennsylvania Deaf Golf Association in 2007. Through decades of tournaments, travels, and watching each other's families grow, their bond remains a lasting tribute to loyalty and a shared love of golf.

Megan Majocha, a 2015 WPSD graduate from a multi-generational WPSD family, earned her PhD in Tumor Biology from Georgetown/NIH in 2024, becoming the ninth WPSD alumna with a doctorate and the fastest to achieve it (nine years post-graduation). Her path from WPSD's Girls Athletic Association cancer fundraisers to cancer research came full circle, overcoming challenges like developing new ASL science signs with untrained interpreters. She now works as Scientific Communications Manager at Susan G. Komen, translating research for breast cancer patients, and advises current students to take every opportunity available to them.
