Come on out join PAD night at Riverhounds.
From time to time since that date, many happy and profitable reunions have been held.
The Alumni Association of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf was organized on September 26, 1914, and the first reunion was held on September 1, 1915.

Two generations. 23 years apart. One unforgettable photo. At our Alumni Reunion on June 20, Stephen Rute (1974) was the last WPSD ESDAA basketball player in 1971 and David Fulmer (1996) was the first to return in 1994, came together for a moment that perfectly captures the heart of WPSD athletic history. Thank you to Kallie Mendenhall for preserving these incredible stories!

Oh, what a cute picture! It appeared on the cover of the WPAN brochure (February 1963, Vol. 71, No. 6).
In the photo, a Valentine card box sat nearby, but instead of placing a card in the box, Robert Andrascik (1977) gave Karen Kramer (1976) a kiss near the entrance lobby of the Primary building, now known today as the MSTC building.
Life eventually took them in different directions, and many years passed. Robert continued attending Alumni Reunions, while Karen was absent for decades. Finally, Karen returned to Pittsburgh to celebrate her Class of 1976’s 50th Anniversary Reunion. When Robert and Karen saw each other again, they greeted one another with great excitement and shared a warm hug.
Then Robert asked someone to take a photograph of them, recreating that childhood moment with another kiss. Sixty-three years later, the memory had come full circle. It was a touching reminder that alumni reunions bring people together through shared memories, lifelong friendships, and treasured experiences.

Did your know Andrea Echavarria (09’) created this program book? How cool is that?!

The 38th Triennial Alumni Reunion is a wrap!
Over 115 alumni gathered at WPSD on June 19–20 for two days of celebration and community. Attendees spanned nearly seven decades from the Class of 1957 to the Class of 2025 — proving that the WPSD family truly stands the test of time.
Together, they reconnected with old friends and new faces, participated in a two-day general meetings, welcomed Superintendent Kevin McDonough and Executive Director Carrie Rain. Alumni tour explored the campus to discover its rich history and exciting changes, and capped it all off with a wonderful catered dinner.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of our favorite moments — stay tuned later this week for the full photo dump!
