Earlier this year, our entire team gathered for a training focused on one simple, powerful skill: observation.

Led by Katie Henderson, master teacher and program owner of Music Connections in Illinois, we explored what it means to truly see what is happening in our classrooms.

To slow down.
To notice.
To become thoughtful observers and data collectors.

Because when we understand what a child is doing — how they respond, how they learn, where they are in the process — we can create more meaningful and effective learning experiences.

This kind of professional development matters.

It helps us grow as teachers.
It strengthens the experience we provide.
And it allows us to better meet each child right where they are.

At Kathy’s Music, we are committed to learning, growing, and refining our craft — for our students, our families, and our community. 💜

Spring Recital weekend represented so much more than a performance.

Students of all ages stepped onto the stage to share music they worked hard to learn. Some performed for the very first time. Others shared the result of years of steady growth, practice, and perseverance.

Our theme this year, Dream Big with Music, invited students to imagine more for themselves and discover what they are capable of achieving.

Because music lessons are not really about perfection.

They are about becoming.

One lesson.
One challenge.
One brave moment at a time.

And somewhere along the way, students begin to realize:
“I can do hard things.”
“I can keep growing.”
“I can dream bigger than I did before.”

That’s what this weekend was really about. 💜

For many children, preschool is just around the corner.

And with it comes something new — independence.

Our preschool drop-off camps are a wonderful way to practice that step in a supportive, joyful environment.

Children learn to:
Follow a routine
Engage with a group
Feel confident on their own

All through music, art, and play.

It’s not just camp.
It’s preparation for what comes next.

🎻 Welcome, Miss Debbie! 🎶

We’re so excited to welcome Debbie Choi to our Kathy’s Music team! Debbie will be teaching Kindermusik Level 5and cello lessons in our McMurray studio.

With over 20 years of experience as a teacher, cellist, and ensemble musician, Debbie brings a unique perspective to both group classes and private lessons. Her background in orchestral and ensemble music-making helps students develop strong listening skills, musical awareness, and confidence—skills that begin in Kindermusik and grow beautifully into instrumental study.

We can’t wait for you to meet her and experience the joy of making music together! 💛

Babies absorb SO MUCH through watching caregivers repeat what they hear. Try this activity today and make it part of your daily routine. Every time you do it, you supercharge baby's neuroplasticity!

During Jaelyn’s Wednesday evening lesson, something special happened.

Miss Laura’s Level 4 Kindermusik class took a little “field trip” across the hall… to look inside the piano.

With curious eyes watching closely, Miss Laura showed the class how the hammers strike the strings to create sound each time Jaelyn presses a key.

It’s one thing to play the piano.

It’s another to understand what’s happening beneath your fingertips.

Moments like this spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and make music feel even more real.

Learning music isn’t just about what we hear.

It’s about discovering how it all works together.

That’s Kindermusik. 💜

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who gave so much.

In many families, music becomes part of that remembering.

A song that brings back a memory.
A melody that connects generations.
A moment shared together.

Music has a way of helping us feel what words sometimes cannot.

Today, we are grateful.

For freedom. For family. For the moments we share.

Wishing your family a meaningful Memorial Day. 💜

Our favorite way to play peekaboo:

1. Using a translucent scarf or tissue paper, cover your baby’s face (or yours!).

2. Ask, “Where is _baby’s name_?” several times, then lift the scarf and say “There s/he is! Peekaboo, I see you!”

3. Wait for baby to respond with a smile, laugh, or vocalization.

4. Repeat

💡Add music to help hold their attention—you can stream "I See You" on the free Kindermusik app and follow the prompts!
