We have arrived at the Winter Solstice, otherwise known as the shortest day of the year! Today the Earths northern hemisphere is at its greatest angle of tilt away from the sun. From now until June 20, 2021, the days will now only continue to get longer.

Happy Wright Brothers Day to all aviator fans! On this day in 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright conducted the first successful flight with a mechanically propelled airplane.

On this day in 1955, English engineer Christopher Cockerell, invented the first working hovercraft. He later received a patent for his invention in 1956, and his creation was revealed to the public in 1959.

Marie Curie (Sklodowska) was born on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw. She is most well known for her discovery of two elements, polonium and radium, which won her a second Nobel Peace Prize in 1911. Her first Nobel Prize was won in 1903, that she shared with her Husband Pierre and physicist Henri Becquerel.
