If you didn't catch the special issue of the Pitt magazine for the 100th anniversary of the Cathedral of Learning (you can find the digital copy here https://www.pittwire.pitt.edu/magazine/features-articles/2026/10/06/nationality-heritage-rooms-hungary-philippine-china-italy-africa ), you missed our own prof. Lina Insana's contribution to it! But we got you! Below you can find the article and a fabulous picture of Lina in the Italian Nationality Room, seating - not by chance I suspect - in the University of Messina chair.

We're just a few days away from the beginning of National Italian Heritage Month, and we've been busy planning great events to participate in the celebration!

On Wednesday, October 14 at 6pm, join the University of Pittsburgh's Italian Program and the Heinz History Center's Italian American Program to hear Pittsburgh native and former Poet Laureate of North Carolina Joseph Bathanti read from his bilingual edition volume of poetry, “Sempre Fidele and other poems." In celebration of National Italian Heritage Month, Bathanti will share how his Italian heritage influences his writing and his experience working with translators to publish his poetry in Italian. Program offered with the generous sponsorship of the Department of French & Italian, the Department of English, and the Nicholas C. Tucci and Sunda Cornetti Fund.

Registration required at https://evite.me/fv4Fck7QCx or by scanning the poster QR code.
