We're interested in understanding how infants learn about the world around them and what they know! Our procedures are entirely safe and not at all complicated.

We have appointments throughout the week including Saturdays. It just depends week to week which slots are still left and hours are flexible as well. What we do:
We run two kinds of studies, Habituation and Toy studies and the whole session takes no more than 45 minutes. If you do come in be assured that you would be with your child at all times. Habituation studies: This is where you child sits

Hi I’m Avery! I’m a rising junior at Carnegie Mellon University studying Neuroscience. I’m also on the Women’s Soccer Team! In my free time, I enjoy playing pickleball with friends and thrifting. This is only my first year being a part of the Infant Cognition Lab, however, I cannot wait to gain more experience as the years progress! Looking forward to meeting some of you soon!

Hi, I’m Reed and I’m a research assistant for the Infant Cognition Lab. I’m a Junior at Carnegie Mellon University studying math. I love teaching, so I’m currently a head teaching assistant within CMU’s School of Computer Science and I’m an instructor and TA for the Gelfand Outreach Series. In the past, I’ve also worked in a variety of childcare settings including as a tutor, quiz bowl coach, ski instructor, and most recently, a supervisor at an overnight camp for children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. In my free time, I like to read, go on walks, play quidditch, and spend time with friends and family. I’m excited for this to be my second semester with the ICL!

Hi! My name is Kyr, I use she/they pronouns, and I am an undergraduate research assistant in the Infant Cognition Lab. I'm a second year biology & psychology student on the pre-medicine track, hoping to go into pediatric oncology. Outside of research, I play on the varsity softball team, compete with the CMU Ballroom Dance team, and run Alpha Epsilon Delta (the pre-health honor society on campus). I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully beginning my own research in the coming years!

I'm Sunny, the head research assistant in the Infant Cognition Lab! I'm currently a rising undergrad junior at Carnegie Mellon University, and I've been a part of ICL for 2 years. In my free time, I love painting, tap dancing, and crocheting. This summer, I'll be conducting the majority of the studies at ICL as well as starting my own research on how infants might learn gender stereotypes! Like all our other studies, babies can be tested either online over Zoom or in person, depending on location or preference. I'm super excited to get this study started and am looking forward to meeting all parents, guardians, and babies who might participate in this study!
