Dietetic Program at CCAC

🥑Dietetics student, Lori Rupp, put together a nutrition table at a community wellness event hosted by UPMC Northwest hospital.

🍎She discussed healthy food options, incorporating fresh produce with meals, and provided smoothie sampling to all those who were in attendance!

Congratulations!! CCAC’s Dietetic technician program graduate of 2026 - Shawn Cribbs. We are so proud of him and cannot wait to see where his future takes him!

CCAC’s Dietetic Technician interns just completed their internship orientation for the upcoming semester! Our students will be placed at hospitals and long term care facilities in the area to further their skills in foodservice management and clinical nutrition.

These ladies have worked incredibly hard to get to this point; I am so proud of them. 🥹

The Dietetics program and the Allied Health Nutrition Association attended the Wellness Fair at CCAC. We enjoyed meeting new faces and seeing old friends.

Enrollment for the Dietetic Technician program and the Dietary Management are underway for the Fall 2026-2027 school year!

Today was PA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Conference!

CCAC’s dietetic technician student, Lori Rupp, won a stipend to attend the event after writing an essay on the benefits of attending the conference.

We are so proud of her and all the other amazing dietetic students at CCAC!

Today, CCAC Dietetics program spent the day at Southmoreland Elementary School with grades 2-5. We incorporated nutrition lessons into their physical education class! We enjoyed talking about every day foods such as broccoli, beans, and cheese and “sometimes” foods such as cookies, pizza, and ice cream. The kids rode scooters, hopped, skipped, and even did gymnastics to burn some calories!

I would like to thank Ms. Rachel Means for collaborating this effort for us to spend the day with her students; Mr. Zachary Malavite for taking us on a tour of their kitchen and allowing us to watch the meal process for the children; Mr. Dan Krofcheck, elementary Principal and Dr. Jason Boone Superintendent for allowing us to spend the day in their amazing school. We hope this is a collaboration that will continue over years to come!

CCACs Allied Health Nutrition Association hosted an event for National Nutrition Month and Nutrition and Registered Dietetic Technician day!

Today we:

📚Educated those on what NDTRs do and how important they are to allied health and nutrition programs

🍎Provided education on different foods and food groups (many of which are eaten on the regular by college students)

🥑Offered a variety of simple, healthy recipes (who knew ramen could be made with 1/2 the amount of sodium, lots of protein, and veggies)

🥜Prepared a healthy protein ball made from peanut butter, oats, maple syrup, and chocolate chips (YUM!)

🎯Played games with fun prize giveaways!
