With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of Christine Chimento, former high school science teacher. She was deeply committed to her students and was a wonderful colleague whom many of us had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside.

Our KO community is still at a loss for words after yesterday’s unimaginable tragedy that took the precious life of one of our own, Lakyn - a 2024 graduate. This immeasurable loss has left our hearts heavy and our community deeply shaken.

Lakyn, you were a truly beautiful soul whose light touched everyone around you. Your kindness, positivity, and radiant energy are what your teachers and classmates will always carry with them. You had a way of lifting spirits, brightening even the darkest of days, and leaving people better simply for having known you.

We will remember your infectious smile, your thoughtfulness, and the joy you brought to every moment. Though your time here was far too short, your impact will last forever. May you rest peacefully, and may your light continue to shine through all those who love you.

Also a great opportunity for KO students needing volunteer credits (esp. for teardown the day of the race - of which we have 0 volunteers!).

We still need a number of volunteers at critical intersections along the race course, during packet pickup on 9/6, and during setup and teardown the morning of the race. Just a reminder: this could be a great opportunity for KO students needing volunteer credits.

It is with an extremely heavy heart to share the passing of our friend and KOEA colleague, Tricia Kreitzer. Our hearts are broken and her void within the Keystone Oaks School District will be felt by her colleagues, administration, former and current students forever. Please keep her family, especially her husband and 2 daughters, in your thoughts and prayers. 💔 🖤 💛

Thank you to the Borough of Dormont for presenting us with an incredible $3,000 donation this evening from the proceeds of the Dormont Dash that was held in September. This extremely generous donation will go to the KOEA Memorial Scholarship Fund which benefits graduating seniors every year from KOHS. Throughout the last 16 years, we’ve awarded close to $50,000 to seniors pursing post-secondary adventures thanks to donations like these. Thank you so much for making this possible for our Keystone Oaks students!

What a wonderful morning at the Dormont Dash! The KOEA Scholarship Fund is so thankful to be a part of such a fun race for this community. We hope you had as much as fun as we did! Thanks to all the volunteers who made this race happen.
