Last week, we celebrated National Hazing Prevention Week from September 23rd-27th. During this time, we reflected on how hazing affects all groups, not just Greek Life. We had students, faculty, and staff put a hand on our banner to show their pledge against hazing on our campus 🖐🏽

Whether it is a sport, student club, or a Greek Life organization, hazing can happen anywhere and can affect anyone. If you see something, say something! The worst you can do is not speak up when you see something that could be hazing!

Speak Up!! 🗣️ For our final day of National Hazing Prevention Week, we want to remind you of the importance of SPEAKING UP!

If you see something that looks like hazing or might be hazing, speak up! It never hurts to say something just to make sure.

Keep yourselves and others safe, always!

Did You Know? 🤔❓ Every year, 1.5 million high school students go through hazing, and nearly half of college students have already experienced hazing before even coming to college!

Knowing this information, imagine how scary it could be for someone to get involved in college! This is why it's so important to create an open, safe, and inclusive community for all our new and existing members!

Did you know? 🤔❓ 40% of athletes who reported being involved in hazing behaviors report that a coach or advisor was aware of the activity. 22% report that a coach was involved.

It's important to pay attention to "regular" practices and behaviors in ANY organization you join -- whether it's Greek, athletics or a student club, be sure to keep yourself and others safe!

What IS Hazing? 🤔❓Hazing is any activity expected of someone in joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them regardless of a person's willingness to participate. Consent is important, and so is protecting one another from hazing. Make sure to do your part!

Did You Know? 🤔❓71% of students who witnessed hazing indicated that alcohol was involved in some way. What are YOU doing to keep yourselves and others safe in your organization? Make sure you're taking care of yourselves and others if you're drinking! 💜
