This week, Dr. Castagna hosted the first Superintendent Advisory Panel meeting of the school year at CVHS! Now in its third year, the monthly discussion gives students a chance to ask questions, share concerns, and provide feedback on their school experience. This year, we’re excited to welcome juniors alongside our seniors!

We love hearing directly from our students, learning what matters to them, and finding ways we can help support their needs and make their school experience even better.

Thank you to Dr. Castagna for continuing to create these opportunities for student voices to be heard, and to our students for being willing to share their thoughts and ideas!

Second-grade teacher Shelley Territ was honored as a Spotlight Coach for the Kids of Steel program at Chartiers Valley Primary School.

Thirteen years ago, Shelley started the before-school running program with just 25 students. Today, it has grown to more than 193 participants, making it one of the largest programs in the area!

Held from January through May, the program helps students build endurance, develop a love of running, and establish healthy habits. Each week features a fun theme to keep young runners excited and motivated. The Primary School program is honored to have a display at the Heinz History Center, featuring artifacts from William Coperich.

The season will culminate on May 1, 2027, when students participate in the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, celebrating their hard work and dedication.
