A warm welcome to Chaim Gelbut, who joined our middle school boys this morning for Shacharis. After finishing his learning in yeshiva in Israel Chaim will be joining Duquesne University this coming year to play Division I basketball for their team.

We are excited to welcome Chaim to the Pittsburgh Jewish community and look forward to seeing him around the Beis Medrash, learning Torah, and becoming a part of our community.

History came alive for our 8th grade boys during their unforgettable graduation trip to Washington, D.C.!

The adventure began with a tour of the U.S. Capitol and a special meeting with Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, giving our students a firsthand look at government in action. They then explored some of the nation's most fascinating museums, including Planet Word, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Museum of American History, where they viewed treasured artifacts such as the original Star-Spangled Banner and The Declaration of Independence.

The trip also included powerful moments of reflection at Arlington National Cemetery, where the boys witnessed the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Of course, no class trip would be complete without some fun! The boys enjoyed an exciting evening cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and making memories together outside the classroom.

From history and leadership to friendship and fun, this trip was the perfect way to celebrate an exceptional group of graduates. We are incredibly proud of our 8th grade boys and look forward to all they will accomplish in the years ahead!

They discovered the power of language at Planet Word, visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and explored the National Museum of American History, where they saw the original Star-Spangled Banner and Dorothy's famous ruby slippers.

The girls also experienced powerful moments of reflection at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Arlington National Cemetery, where they witnessed the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Filled with friendship, laughter, meaningful experiences, and plenty of fun along the way, this special trip was the perfect way to celebrate an incredible graduating class. We are so proud of our 8th grade girls and can't wait to see all they accomplish in high school and beyond!

Mazal Tov to Our 8th Grade Graduates!

Yesterday we celebrated our boys and girls who have reached this exciting milestone and the families who have supported them every step of the way.

We are so proud of our graduates and all they have accomplished during their middle school years. Through their hard work, growth, and commitment to Torah values, they have built a strong foundation for the future.

As they take the next step into high school, we are confident they will continue to learn, lead, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom. We can't wait to see all that they will achieve in the years ahead.

Congratulations to the Class of 2030! Your next chapter is just beginning, and we know it will be an amazing one.

Last week, our BAMbassadors visited the residents at Beacon Place for a special carnival celebration during our fourth and final visit of the year. Throughout the year, students worked hard to build meaningful relationships and connections with their elderly neighbors. In fact, several students shared how sad they were that this would be their last visit together this year.

For this final trip, our 4th graders organized a fun-filled carnival complete with cotton candy, bowling, darts, bingo, and more. Everyone had a wonderful time laughing, playing games, and enjoying each other’s company.

We are so grateful to Dori Oshlag for starting this meaningful initiative and giving our BAMbassadors the opportunity to experience the power and joy of intergenerational connections.

The Heat head to CBI!

Our Hillel Heat baseball team is proud to compete once again in the Columbus Baseball Invitational — known across the country as the “Jewish World Series” — bringing together Jewish high school athletes from across the nation for an unforgettable weekend of baseball, sportsmanship, achdus, and Jewish pride.

Hosted by Columbus Torah Academy since 2010, the tournament has become the premier Jewish high school baseball competition in the country, featuring incredible competition, community ruach, and memories that last a lifetime.

The Heat opened tournament play with a big win over Ida Crown, finishing with a final score of 7-1. We are so proud of the way our players represented Hillel with teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, and Heat pride throughout the game.

Let’s go Heat!

What an amazing trip for our robotics team!

Our 4th and 5th grade robotics team joined over 300 students from 18 schools for an exciting day of designing, programming, strategizing, and competing at the CIJE VEX GO Robotics Competition — all while showing amazing teamwork and achdut along the way.

This year, students traveled from the hills of the Golan to the water towers of Eilat as “Village Engineers,” using their creativity and coding skills to tackle real-world robotics challenges.

We loved seeing so many parents and grandparents there cheering on our students and adding to the incredible energy of the day. We are so proud of our future engineers!
