What a special afternoon celebrating the publication of Bee & Cat! 📚🐝🐱
Family, friends, and supporters gathered at Little Sisters of the Poor for a book signing featuring author Cathy Vonderau and Oakland Catholic rising senior and illustrator Averie Strohm. Guests had the opportunity to purchase copies of the book and have them personally signed by Cathy and Averie.
The event also included a question-and-answer session, a reading of the book, and a reception with light refreshments and desserts. It was a wonderful celebration of friendship, creativity, and the connection between generations that brought this story to life.
Congratulations to Cathy and Averie on this remarkable achievement!

Serving in Appalachia!
This week, 70 students from Oakland Catholic and Central Catholic are in Webster Springs, West Virginia, serving the local community through their annual mission trip.
Students are lending a helping hand through painting, landscaping, cleaning, and other improvement projects for local residents who are unable to do the work themselves, as well as supporting the local elementary school and area churches.
While service is at the heart of the trip, there’s also time to build friendships and create lasting memories. One highlight of the week was a special evening of line dancing, where students enjoyed some well-earned fun, laughter, and Appalachian hospitality after a day of hard work.
We are proud of these young men and women for living their faith through spirituality, and service. Please keep them and the Webster Springs community in your prayers as they continue their impactful week.

Puerto Rico Mission Trip Update
Today and tomorrow, Oakland Catholic students are serving at Hogar para Niñas, an orphanage for young girls in Puerto Rico. Through a literacy camp they planned and organized, our students are sharing the joy of reading, learning, and friendship with the children they are serving.
Hogar para Niñas is operated by the Hermanas de AMICO, a Catholic religious community dedicated to caring for and nurturing young girls in need.
Please keep our students, the sisters, and the children of Hogar para Niñas in your prayers as they continue this meaningful mission of faith, service, and love.
