If the best in the world can do a lob serve, you can too! Great teaching tips!

“Read the Room”👍🏻

Amateurs, read the room!

I usually write about competitive PB, but today, let’s talk about “fun, relaxed rec.” These are the open play games on your local courts, where strangers come together to play for exercise, relaxation, and community.

Can you stop being such a$$holes to newer players who are at a lower level than you?!

👎 Stop coaching them.
👎 Stop beating the crap out of them.
👎 Stop berating them.
👎 Stop bagging them.

Why, in this environment, do you find it necessary to embarrass the new, lower-level opponent?

Is your ego so fragile, that you have to belittle and diminish their game in order to lift up your own?

When I used to play golf regularly, we would say, “Want to find out the true character of a man, play 18 holes with him.”

PB is yesterday’s golf — it doesn’t create bullies, it exposes them.

Be nice. Read the room. Help grow the new player’s confidence.

You’d think this type of post should never have to be written, but unfortunately, it seems to be more needed now than ever before.

Super play this morning at Pickleball Harbor with some amazing ladies from around the Pittsburgh area. Even though I’m still dealing with some hip pain, I’m grateful to just be able to be back on the court! 😊🥰
